okay so here's the whole story. i had an alarm system installed (a viper) about a month ago. this whole time it has worked AWESOME. last friday i accidentally left the light on in my car and it killed the battery so today when i went to start it it was a no go, of course.So i jump it with my grandmas infinity i30 and it works fine.

I take it for an hours drive to let the battery charge and a little fun without the T-tops and then come back home.

Now next time i went to go for a drive, i disarmed the alarm and unlocked the doors and as soon as i open the door, the horn starts to honk. But it's not the full-on horn, it's like a half-*** horn with a screech at the end of it, and my lights flash on and off repeadetly.

It disabled my start, so when i turn it to "4" my radio turns on, my lights work, and everything is fully functional except my ignition. And it won't stop honking and flashing the lights either. Any ideas? Thanks guys

sorry for the long post. kind of in a hurry here.

EDIT: yes, i realized i spelt weirdest wrong. lol

the horn honk is usually the stock alarm system acting

I am assuming Viper has a siren alarm vs the stock horn alarm...

I had this problem too. Put your key in the door and turn it while the alarm is going off as you would have before you had your alarm put in. Like you would unlock the door manually.

If this helps, then your factory alarm is the cause. You can disable your factory alarm below behind the wooden board by the ECU its a small silver box 2"x4" on the back of a black bar.

But my guess is your Viper off will will not let the car start because its a security feature my alarm had as well. So you need to turn your key all the way to so your dash lights up again, plug in the alarm and it should be fine. Make sure your factory alarm has been disarmed, otherwise you will get the flashing and honking again (I think its a turn to the right that unlocks it)

let me know

that happened to mine once so i just took off the stock alarm completely by disconnecting the 2"x4" silver box module thing. the aftermarket alarm still worked like normal as it should

yup they've has factory alarms since 84 or 84, thta why they have factor hood sensors, there is no motion sensor it's purely electronic, if the doors are locked and you reach in and open them wtih the t-top out it'll set off the alarm, my z32 had a bad sensor in the drivers door so when I opened it with a key it set off the alarm
