I bought E380 BWD coils off of ebay off of a reseller who has great feedback ..The problem is the box says E380 and the coil looks like a generic china altima coil ...The stamp on the coil says 01401 which isnt in any cross ref guide at all...Anyone have any info on what the BWD coils should look like as I think its possible its a china knock off re boxed ..

BWD stuff used to be world class but you can pretty much forget that now. When I sold it OTC from '09-'12 it had become mostly garbage and they had just brought out a new 'value' line that got even worse. BWD Import or something close it was called. I now would not put that stuff on a tricycle and similar to so many other world class brands that have been bought out to bastardize them using utter crap Chinese parts to get sales based on the names only. The reliability was awful and I took back so much of it under warranty I couldn't even say.

Yeah the whole thing it Is a bit confusing because you're supposed to be a part of Standard Motor products also I hear they are true Motorcraft parts then I hear Chinese and on the box it says made in Poland go figure which as far as I'm concerned only means the the box is made in Poland LOL

What you get with the parts chains now forcing the creation of mega-conglomerate corporations that buy up all the old standby name brands to then make crap product for billions of people. It's virtually impossible to tell where your parts really come from, the boxes often lie. They are reboxed time and again, I did scads of it myself when I was in parts. You are forced to do it every time the chain drops one name brand to embrace anther for the agreed to cuts, You never ship back old stock any longer, it reboxes to avoid reshipping charges.

I used to own an auto store about 10 yrs ago...I stocked wells cause nobody wanted to spend money on Standard ,Bluestreak or Denso ......My #1 selling plug was champion which I think are garbage unless u have a lawn mower ..
Wells was all reboxed companies ...Some stuff looked like standard and other companies ...The 1 thing I didnt do was take refunds or exchanges for electrical items ...I am not getting something back that they did a swap and then sell a customer their burned out module coil or whatever else they cleaned up and tried to snake me for ..Auto zone takes anything back its ridiculous ...

You have no idea how bad it can get. The chains have gone utterly mad. They coddle incompetence that costs them so much money I couldn't get my head around it. You got people who came in to swap out their 4th part and it being something I could still tell was good I then informed them the 5th one would be no better as well. When that happened then they blow up on you as they are unable to fix the cars to begin with. The worst words I ever heard were 'this guy, the family mechanic' and watch out for that one; commonly so lost he cannot heat his own hair oil. You had to be razor sharp for them not to switch good/bad parts on you, I caught so many doing that I should have been a cop, as well I caught counterfeit money 2-3 times also.

One worst case, guy brings back a creeper for rolling under a car. 3 wheel assemblies are gone and looking like they were literally torn off. So many teeth marks on it, uncountable. Obvious a BIG dog tried to eat it. The back of the creeper is broken as well, again, obvious somebody put an engine on it and it broke in two. The guy had no receipt but the brand was ours. He claimed it was 'faulty' because it broke and I even got him to admit he had put an engine on it, but he still felt he was owed his money back. I refused and then it got to where I had to call police to remove him from the store. He then went to another and reported me whereupon my district manger later ripped me up one side and down the other telling me I did not please the customer. I asked him if we were in business to make or lose money and the resulting answer? 'It's not about making money, it's about making the customer happy', and I finished what he said with the words 'until the jackass comes back in to rip us off again!' I then began to fly off the handle and asked him if there was anyone in upper management that was not an idiot, and how I didn't get fired then I will never know. I do know I f-cked with management there the entire time I was there, they were incompetent from the word go and the whole place was a good ol' boy setup having so much sexual harassment I couldn't see why they weren't sued into oblivion.

The place took back literally any part complained about good or not. I used to go back over them and rebox anything I was pretty sure was good to put back on the shelf. The vendors were trying to figure out some way to stop the chains from endlessly cycling out good parts claimed to be bad, according to them some 80% of all warrantied parts had zero wrong with them other than the buyer was too stupid to know what was wrong with the cars to endlessly cycle out parts like an idiot. What I personally saw more than backed that up.

What happens when you sell to DIYers and they can bring anything back no questions asked. I sold parts in '79-'81 and '09-'12 and brother they certainly did not get any smarter there, it went the other way entirely. Today's fixer typically can't fix a tricycle.

mac , this "customer made happy" attitude can't even be chalked up to "well that's just their business philosophy - get people to come back ..." , PEOPLE ,FAMILIES are endangered by by this practice . If they are killed / mamed THEY WON'T COME BACK ! :wtf2:
