I Have a wierd background noise in my 15" kicker comp vr powerded by a 200.2 kicker amp. I have the sub bridged. the sub still hits very good, just a slight buzzing sound when it isn't thumping.

nope that wasn't i, i could turn the gain all the way down to one and it still buzzez..... could it be that i don't have gold plated ends on my rca's?

Nah, gold plated connectors are a marketing gimmick. If you want I can explain that, but I won't unless you ask specifically

Hmm.. Still buzzing. Would you happen to have access to another HU or amp? It may that the internal gains on one of these two set improperly. If so then you can't really do anything about it.

Now, does the buzzing increase as the volume goes up, and if so is it to the same degree that the music level increases? This will tell us if it's before or after the amplification stage.

with the volume down, does the pitch change with the rpms? does it buzz with the volume all the way down, but the power on? is it on the radio, cd, or both?

yeah, im thinking either grounds or just some RCA noise. im willing to bet on the former, though.

hmm...what kind of RCAs are you using? are they the walmart kind or from a reputable company? check all your grounds and make sure they are clean, corrosion free, and make sure its unfinished metal under where you drilled them. did you run the power wire down the same side as the RCAs? also, im not sure if it was stated before, but is the buzz through all the speakers or just the subs?

no there the cheap radioshack rcas. I ran the rcas and the remote down through the center, the power wire down the pasengers side fo the car. the buzz is only though the sub. oh and for the record i have a deh-6500 pioneer head unit.(not sure if it's in my sig)

The RCAs *may* be a problem, but more then likely they are not.

Also, running the RCAs on the opposite side of the vehicle from the power is unneccessary. You have to remember that you're working with a DC system. So the power that goes through that line has to return somehow. Unless you pulled a wire from the negative pole to your amplifier, like I do, then your cars body is used as the negative connection. So where in the vehicle can you run your RCAs so tha tyou arn't near the body? Hint: You CAN'T. So don't worry about it

well its not alternator whine. it can really only be a handful of things. make sure you check ALL your grounds. if that doesnt work, find a friend with better RCA's and try it. if that doesnt work, find a friend with another HU and try it. test and eliminate each component of the system, and isolate the problem.

dont know if it was asked before, but is there an equalizer or a line amplifier?

Check the HU ground also. It might either use a dedicated wire for the ground, or it may just use its chassis to ground to the vehicle
