1992 Nissam Maxima GXE, automatic (RE4F02A) transmission, black, Seattle,WA

where would i get an exploded view of the back of my engine? i need to know what component would be buzzing with the engine off and the key out. is it the starter? if i can figure this problem out, then i can dissemble the stoopid kill switch and deal with the injector issues...thanx for the help.

i just purchased this vehicle a few days ago. i bought it knowing full well it was not arriving to me in perfect condition. here is what i know so far:

the owner had an electrical "kill switch" installed ON THE POSITVE BATTERY CABLE and i had no idea why.
my speedo is going haywire, and there is a buzzing coming from behind the engine, like low underneath(starter solenoid?) i didnt notice the buzzing until my battery died over night. i opened the hood to get a jump and heard this loud buzzing, i need a connector schematic so i can see what components are back there.

i put a newly charged battery as a bandaid and i am suspicious of the alternator, it looked like it had never been touched. car has like 209,000 miles on it. compression test was great so i am staying a positive thinker.

i have been scouring this forum site and saw some VERY interesting topics about the fuel injectors and how to check the codes from the ECM. i am eager to get started and would like my car to just stay on at this point, i can stay on the bus until then. any help would be appreciated. BLAXIMA_78

You could have a short circuit somewhere, maybe the 'hot' battery wire going to the starter. Also, the wiring to that 'Kill Switch," if not properly insulated, could be arcing against the firewall. Check the (+) battery leads/wires, the fusible links, fuses and relays. You can pull out one fuse/relay at a time to isolate the problem. Below is a link to the EL (Electrical System) of the 94 Maxima FSM (Factory Service Manual). It should apply to 92 Max.

I was able to delete the kill switch after we spotted an extra wire installed by a relay switch. after that we installed a 50AMP fuse to make sure the car gets its power and doesnt drain to death. thanx alot for the FSM, it helped me with the wiring diagram. Now i'm working on taking the fuel injectors out to rebuild. very exciting.
