Buzzing at around 4.5-5k rpms
Buzzing at around 4.5-5k rpms
My car has started making a very loud buzzing sound whenever it reaches around 4.5-5k rpms. Sounds like something metal. I have no clue what could be causing this, but it is definately linked to my rpm level, and my car is running excellent other than that problem. Any ideas, or things that I should check? I am worried that it could be my timing chain, but have no real reason to believe that that is what it could be. My friends sohc s13 broke its chain, and caused some pretty bad issues. Thanks, any imput would be great.

probably an exhaust heat shield rattling. shut off motor and whack exhaust with rubber mallet.

I am almost positive that it is not a heat shield... unless it is the one on the header. sounds like it is under the valve cover, but I can't be sure.
