I'm looking at buying this KA-T very soon. I wanted to see what you guys think of this set up. Do you think it will be fairly reliable? What would I need to add once I got it? I plan on getting a turbo timer/boost gauge. What else? Here are the specs from the ad:

Motor is running on a ROM Tuned ECU

Dyno'd at 343HP/350TQ @ 9 psi!!! should make over 400hp at 14psi.

Seems like lots of power for 9psi. But I don't know.

If you need a second eye, I'll drive down and take a look at it. I'm about an hour north of you if you are in Bradenton.

Yeah I keep hearing that comment about the power...I'm going to see if he has dyno sheet at least.

Well, the car is an hour north of me. So would that mean you are near it?It's in clearwater.

edit: Just looked it up and Inverness is actually 2 hours from Bradenton, according to google maps.So that would make you 1 hour from Clearwater. So that would still work if you were willing to drive an hour.

must be a huge turbo with a lot of lag to make 350 on 9psi.... be wary people like to f*** over those not in the know.... good example a friend of mines friend just got an older volvo, and was told uncountable items the car"had" turns out it had nothing worth talking about cept a 350 under hood, but thinkin on it, it was probably a beat arse 305

other then the fact that the power seems a bit odd. That sound like a wicked set-up. Since we cannot see the engine in person it's hard to say. Do you know the guy that's selling it? Do you trust him?

Do a compression test, or better, a leak down test if you have any doubts.

Also, curious which ROM tune?

Your best bet is to let Eric (EasyE) drive it for you. He knows what that much power should feel like and he knows what to look for as far as problems go. 9 psi is going to feel really fast to someone that's not used to it. Since it's a T3/TO4 I doubt he's making 350/9 psi. But I'm always a skeptic.

Call Eric, buy him beer (pay him for beer), listen to his advice.

Send me an e-mail. Let me know when you're not busy. Or get me on AIM.e_appie (at) hotmail.comAIM: EazyE4you

I'll be around not doing diddle crap on the weekends. I only work during the week. Rarely do I get a side job.

Yeah, stay away from someone elses eBay project. Eric's car is a good buy, just make sure you get him to change all the fluids and throw in a paste wax/buff job
