i checked a few of the ad banners but nothing substantial. where are you guys getting parts from for your max's. i have a 95 se. so far im making an exhaust, got the stone mountain headers and y-pipe and fabbed my own intake setup and am boring my throttlebody to a venturi style. i have a chromoly flywheel and stage 3 clutch with a short throw shifter.still thinkng about forced induction but if i can find some cams, or anything for the motor that would be cool.

JWT makes cams however the VQ30 doesn't really benefit much from them. The $/hp ratio is too high. If you've done the basic I/H/E, tune it using an EU and wideband. One guy on the org hit high 12s with a bolt-on, tuned 3.0L

you can get cams and a reprogrammed ecu from jwt but i think you might wanna wait with the ecu till you run boost because then they'll program it better to suit your needs. you can also put vq35 cams in yours with adapters - there's a guy on the org that makes them.

what's a venturi style tb? i'm too lazy to search right now. you can put a pathfinder tb on with an adapter plate - the tb is 10mm bigger in diameter than our stock one thing is i've read comments from guys with turbos and apparently the difference is not noticable but you might want to ask kzoosho since he has a supercharged and a turboed max.

stone mountain exhaust? haven't heard of that company. any price difference between them, ebay, cattman and others?

what else are you looking for? maybe i'll know where to send you.

being to lazy myself to look for a pic think of it like this. your tb stock is like this = to make it like a venturi you hone the metal out like a v on both sides so it looks like this >< you keep the stock throttle plate but grind the edges so it "opens" faster. i also like to take some metal off the plate rod to make it flow better. now on bossted bigger is better, but on na it doesnt help much. with the venturi style the air gets sucked in harder into the intake. i do it to all my na setups. you will notice the difference.

the headers from stone mountain are from ebay. they are located in virginia i think. havent installed them yet but packaging and quality sofar have me very impressed for $175. tig welded and 304 stainless steel. whats the website for the cams and stuff?i think i might add a neo and a wideband. see what i can get out of it. any pulleys worth the money?

can't post link to the org here or i'll get a ban but check out jwt aka http://www.jimwolftechnology.com and no offense to THT but no matter what motor it'll always benefit from upgraded cams and on a n/a eng there's not much point in getting a wideband o2 and spending a bunch on a controller because your stock o2's are supposed to give you as close to ideal a/f as possible. udps are a scam because your power isn't taken away as much by a couple extra pounds as by the power steering pump - look into getting a toyota mr2 pump which is hydro-electric and doesn't run off the crank.

the tb mod - do you do it yourself and how or do you give it to a machine shop?

I was thinking about the unorthodox crank pulley not the UDP set up just a lightened verision of the stock crank pully suposidly it will give an extra 8-10hp but I'm not sure about it it's like $200 which isn't too bad if it does add hp so we'll see about it gonna get it soon... unless people tell me it's not worth it.

I didn't say it wouldn't benefit...I said that the $/hp ratio was too high. There are many other mods available that offer more "bang for your buck" than cams for the VQ30. Hell, the only reason why I put cams in my 3.5 was because I had to take the stock ones out anyway.

same part, different names. $200??? that's crazy, obx for $60 off ebay. i wanted to do a pulley but after reading a lot turns out it's not worth it at all. 8-10hp...maybe 2-3 at the wheels = worthless expense.

well you actually dont get hp from the pully. same as an aluminum flywheel. it takes wieght off the rotating assembly so it can turn easier. the one on ebay lists as underdrive which i dont trust. i may bump the cash for the unorthodox one. lighter allows the hp thats there already to be freed up, much like replacing the clutch fan on old chevys with an electric one. the electric fan doesnt boost hp but the power used to turn the clutch one is now freed up for somewhere else. takes the strain off the engine which is good in the long run.

i feel the same about the cams, for $1200 i can do a lot more.

i do the tb myself. takes about 3-6 hours with an air grinder. ill see how long it takes me to do the spare i have then maybe ill do a few others. i dont live near my shop anymore so when i get there its few and far between these days.

Nothing wrong with them...I just had to remove them anyway so I figured I might as well upgrade. I've still got them in oil and wrapped. Going rate for them on the org is about $175 shipped.
