Hi im 18 and always wanted a 240sx as its just always been my favorite car and would love to eventually make it a project car

I plan to spend at most about 4k for a 240sx and use it as a daily driver, use it to work and back and from times when i need to take it to the next town over. So i plan to keep it maintained and running and make it look nice throw some coilovers on it (as i heard from alot of people the stock suspension sucks). id like to do the little things to it for now and eventually mod it more put in a turbo etc when i save some more up but do parts for this car cost alot would i have to spend alot on this car and is it reliable ? i make 1,400 a month working a full time job and the only bill i pay is 300 to my grandma because i live with her and help her. So should i get this as my first car ? could I afford this car ?

The 240SX is a very dependable car for a Daily as long as you start with a well maintained example. I drove mine all throughout college every day with very few issues that weren't self inflicted. You'll be limited to minor modifications that you can do in a few hours or a weekend, but that was never a problem for me. If you can find one, I do suggest getting a 95+ as it's a newer car with nicer daily comforts. It's also technically a better car in many regards, but there are fewer of them and they are more expensive typically. You can find them for less than 4k though. Parts for any year 240SX are pretty inexpensive in the grand scheme of things. This is due to the price point of the car itself (it's an entry level japanese car) as well as parts availability and car popularity are very high. Just make sure you spend a little more up front on a cleaner car, and you'll be set. Good luck, and welcome to the forum!

Im on the same boat , except i have a daily already. I've been reading up on them and it seems they can be reliable as long as you keep it maintain well and on top of it. You just need to ensure that you purchase one that is worth it a.k.a do your homework on the car before purchasing it.

Good luck hope you find a good car.
