in a few weeks i am purchasing a set of flt-a2's for my 95 240sx (4lug). ive heard they are a nice set of coilovers, sports compact car spoke well of them. i was wondering if there is anything else i should get at the same time. i guess lowering the car effects a lot of other things, will things like camber be an issue? is a set of upper rear adjustable links so neccessary, or any other component, that i need to purchase them at the same time as the coilovers?

i am guessing these coilovers are one way adjustable? i have also heard that you are supposed to specify the spring rate you want, if this is true can i tell them i want an aggressive street setup, or is there a common rate to use?

thanks a lot for any help

Well, there's always more stuff to buy! What's your budget?

Actually, I don't think you*need* to buy anything else to go with your JIC's. They aren't exactly cheap, so if it were me, I'd probably just start out with the coilovers.

The default spring rate is 8/6, and I believe you can specify spring rates. I'd imagine there's an acceptable range of spring rates you can choose from. It seems like most people here and on FA stick with the default springs. They're pretty stiff, but I've read reviews that state the valving on the JIC's is better than the equivalent Tein coilovers (HE's, i suppose), so the stiff springs might be a bit more tolerable on bad roads.

The FLT-A2's are highly regarded, so you'll probably like them quite a bit. IMO, 8/6 is a bit more than an aggressive street rate, but I'm sure others will disagree.

I would get a pair of Battle Version adjustable rear upper arms. So that you can adjust your rear camber and not wear out your tires every five seconds. I assume the FLT-A2's come with upper pillow ball mounts up front to adjust camber with?

thanks for the help so far, my budjet, hmm, well i plan on spending around 2600 or so total for suspension; jic coilovers, sway bars (havnt decided), adjustable sway bar links, nismo tension rods, and strut tower bars at the end. i was not planning on getting anything significant at the same time as the coilovers, but i dont want to damage anything. i heard the rear links were fairly important, but wasnt sure. i saw a set of cusco's for like $400, i really dont want to spend that but i will if neccesary.

yeah, they have upper pillow ball mounts. thanks for throwing the name battle version at me, i looked them up, they are a little cheaper than cusco, does anyone know of the quality of these parts? i guess i need to do some research on parts like toe links, forward links, and such, sounds interesting, thanks again.

why did you decide to do the strut bars last? the rear links, you are talking about the sway bar end links? I was thinking also that it may be a good idea to upgrade your tie rods, depending on what kind of driving you do. I saw that for drifting the stock ones can bend. what is your purpose for the car?

i decided on the strut tower bars last simply because i figured they would not have that dramatic of an affect on the cars handling. yeah, i was going to get adjustable sway bar links, i hope u can also get these for the front, i just want to be able to control over and understeer.

i really do not know much about suspension yet, but i am much more interested in learning about it than i am about power. so i have been looking for good resources and trying to figure out just what these different parts do, i figured out what tension rods do, but im still a little shady on tie rods.

i dont do any competition driving, doubt i will, definitly not at a serious level, maybe for fun. its a daily driver, but on the weekends i would like to have a little fun here and there, so i dont need a race setup of any type, but i would like to have the best street setup i can, while still remaining practicle, so i guess i still have a lot of reading to do =)

btw, the suspension FAQ has a lot of nice info in there, if anyone is looking for a good place to start, thats it.

where did you find out what traction control rods/tie rods/tension rods/adj end links do? I'm not sure about those parts.
