Ok guys this is my first post on the forum and I am on the search for some seasoned input..here's the deal, I am about to buy a (what I would think) pretty modified RHD 300zxtt just imported. My concern is that the car is pretty modified, I've been told my metro auto (local tuner shop very good guys) that it has after market turbos ( have yet to confirm that) an hks Fcon navigator ( which I believe can only be used with the fcon sz or pro, so it has to have one or the other right? unsure there but was told it had a standalone ecu) blitz boost controller (forgot to check if it was dual or single sbc) definitely has a short throw, not sure if the wheel wells have been modified but it does have 265's in the rear ( not sure if those fit with a factory set up) it has a roll bar in the interior of the car behind seats with a cross bar (not sure what brand or anything) was told by the shop it had a full hks suspension ( yet to verify that) and a kakimoto special racing produce exhaust (sounds bad a$$$$$$$$$) so this is what I know off the top of my head.I am worried about the car being ragged the hell with all these mods but on the flip side why sink all that money into a piece of junk??? I went for a test drive and man I am telling you this car drove/ started/ and ran amazing!! It's almost too good to be true so I am almost talking my self out of it. Had zero white smoke or anything at start up (I haven't seen a cold start yet which I will do before buying this weekend) I can't find any sign of a wreck anywhere on the car though it has been painted 2 times (one just recently and it looks amazing) I asked metro about the car and they have told me they only replaced all the vacuum lines in the car when they got it because it had a vacuum leak which was causing over boost? And after they did that it ran like a champ. It has about 75k miles (measured in kilometers don't know exact number) and they also told me they can't find any sign the engine has ever been tampered with or even opened up so I know I need to do the timing job asap, I read some weird mess about buying a 1990 with an engine code before a certain number as they are prone to valve problems or something ???? Again I am just concerned about buying a ragged out car but everything went so smooth from flooring the car to idle it was amazing so it makes me kinda sketch out it's almost to good to be true again, any one have any advice in my situation?? I really want this car it's my dream car but i don't want to get in over my head..thanks in advance guys

a wall of text... anyways im sure the previous owner thoroughly enjoyed it but that doesnt necessarily mean its in bad shape. if you can actually get someone to go with you to look at it thats really knows Z's thats your best bet. if you want it, buy it. chance's are it will make you feel like your in over your head multiple times but if you really love the car it will be worth the pain and suffering lol....

Welcome!
BTW, 265 rear tires are close to the stock size...275's fit pretty easily with the correct offset wheel, 255's in front. We have a wheel/tire size chart in the "Everything you need to know...Z32" sticky, BTW, and which has a ton of other useful info plus the fsm you can download.
The "soft valve" issue is with the early and mid-year NA's, IIRC, and shouldn't be an issue with the TT. IF the car is a pre-94 however, be ready for injector issues unless they have been done as there are corrosion and other issues that can't really be avoided. Replacement is the only choice, upgrading is heavily recommended.
Sounds like an interesting car although personally I'd never buy pre-modified unless there was a serious pile of paperwork and done by a very reputable shop, hope things work out for you if you pull the trigger!
Oh, and BTW although your mechanic has a lot of experience, it means nothing when it comes to the Z32 unless he has worked on several, and modified so really, I'd go with a Z32 pro ONLY in the case of this car as a normal mechanic just won't really understand enough about the car and setup to be trustworthy with anything beyond the work you can do yourself. LOTS of backup on this one as Z32 problems after shop mechanic work is a notorious issue, and what led me here after two shops trashed my Z.

Awesome thanks for the advice DCaff, I am on the fence still, and like you said buying a pretty modded car isn't normally in my books either it's just one of those things that I can't figure out, I'll definitely get it to a serious Z guy around my area I know of a shop that only handles cars like this and they are very very good I'll get it up there and I guess come to a verdict.
Any idea how much a car like the one I described would go for? Slick top RHD try with 75k miles?
