Gonna be buying another 240! This one is a red 93 fastback 5 speed (mine is an auto), I've already looked at the car on the outside and going to take it for a ride this weekend and check out the interior! The one problem is it has 210,000 miles on it, which are definately highway miles because I know whereabouts he lives... I'm going to give him bluebook for the car and that's it. As long as my wife gets this job she is interviewing for friday i'm SET! Then I'll be giving my beautiful silver car to the wife =\ so she can get to work.

Does it make that much difference? I know the 5 speed will be hella cool (sorry had to say hella) but the 15hp makes that much of a difference?

your body can only feel a 7hp or higher difference anything under that is almost unnoticeable so the 15hp will feel decently stronger than before. Kind of like adding intake and exhaust...Thats about what you get from those...Only if they made a 5-sp convertible, woe is me guess i'll have to swap...BTW: Hella is a great word, actually its just hella funny

So if I add intake and exhaust ontop of the stock 15 extra hp... It'll seem a lot quicker than what I'm used to.

now see, in reading on this board I've come across that the differences in power are not all what Nissan makes it out to be on the sheets.

That the sohc is just as fast as the dohc.. I'd love to hear more on that because to me stock for stock I would think the dohc would naturally produce more power....

Anyways nice find! I bet your wife will love your old car :)

actually i think SOHC and DOHC cars are just as fast because the 89-90 cars are like 100lbs lighter on average than the 91-93 cars.

Yes she will love that car... infact it's in the best shape i've ever seen a stock 89 in! I kinda hate to give it up :-D but anything for the misses.

J-Spec, I would just get my brother to drive my 89 and I could race the two but the manual would have an unfair advantage :-\

I think you'll enjoy the 93. I have the same car, and I love it to death(albeit its still stock :( ). The cars do come with abs as an option as I've had to use mine on occasion.

You may have already seen this: http://www.socal240sx.org/faq/1993.htmlbut it'll list what options your car may have...

thanks for the link... so the 93 could possibly have hicas and vlsd? I doubt this model does but that would be nice if it did!

Would the auto 89 be just as heavy because it is an auto?

In my experiences of driving both DOHC and SOHC s13's I can tell no difference.

I have an 89 and a 90 with sohc and stock for stock they are the same as the dohc but with IEH and a pulley on both dohc and sohc the de comes out on top it just takes more of an advantage of its 500 rpm more redline and it's second cam when it is allowed to breath freely. now what is weird is i can smoke dohc of the line and all the way to 70mph but then they blow by me, i do have a lsd and that helps but i think i heard something about 89-90 240's coming with 4:11's or 4:26's or something so I don't know but the sohc definately has better gearing and the dohc puts more power to the road in the long run. going from an automatic sohc to a 5 speed dohc will be a major difference.
