hi everyone, i'm buying an s13 silvia front clip(red-top s13) and i was wondering what should be included in the contract? if the turbo is nearly seized(or seized) should it be replaced at no charge. since i have to order it from japan(a 50% depositis required), i won't be able to perform a leakdown test until it gets here, if there are leaks should it be written in the contract that the engine should be replaced with a healthy one. should write down all the items that should be included (for a proper install) and working in proper order, and if not, be replaced at no charge.

Thanks in advance, talk to you soon,John David

im not sure what your asking. I wouldnt buy an engine before a leakdown test was performed, and w/out knowing that it was all in working order, and what is included...which is why most of us choose to pay a little extra to get it from an Importer w/in the US, this way there is some sort of recourse incase something was bad....if a guy in japan sells you a motor w/ a bad turbo, i dont think you have too much recourse besides a long and expensive law suit, or flying to japan to smack his *** up....

like i said, most of us choose to buy it from someone stateside so we dont have to go through any of those doubt or questions...id never send someone in a different country my money, i dont care what they write and sign on paper, but thats just me.

Also, on the flip side, if you're paying someone in Canada for that kind of service you're getting screwed.

sorry,i didn't make myself clear, i'm buying it from a local importer, but he doesn't have any clips in stock, so one will be ordered and will come in within the next 3-4 weeks(apparently). This is the thing, if the clip/engine were here i would have a leakdown and compression test done prior to taking it( he says compression/leakdown tests are done in japan), and check out the rest of the engine as well, but i will be giving a deposit(50%), prior to ordering it. i don't want to have to put just as much as i paid for the engine just to get it running the way it should (i.e. any parts needed for a properintall...mafs/cas/canister, etc) so should i include everything in writing (every item), and what should they be, and should they be replaced at no charge?

Thanks againJohn David

yes, if its from a reputable dealer, they should replace broken parts. They usually give you a 30day or until startup warranty to replace broken parts.

it sounds like he has to have someone find the motor, perform a leakdown test, then ship it, i dont think he would get it for you if it was a bad motor, but again, i dont know if your dealing w/ a repatable company, or some cheasy preseller...why dont you tell us who you are going through, and maybe someone would have some good or bad experiences with that particular person...there are nice stories, and horror stories about different suppliers.

he gives a 60 day warranty and will replace any faulty/missing items on the block and head, but i think i should have what's included in that in writing, is this unreasonable. the supplier is a local one, i'm from montreal, canada

Thanks, John David

well when i bought mine, and HT sent me an invoice, it did say on the bottom about the warranty. I would think if he is going to invoice you, it might be the same.
