Hi guys new member here.
So I’ve been looking to buy a used m35 and there’s 2 that caught my eye, first one is a 2008 with 123k miles on in, owner says he has some records of maintenance but nothing major has been done to the car besides regular maintenance and oil changes. He’s asking for $5,600 and it looks like it might be a base model. Second one is a 2007 with 99k miles says has all maintenance records and always takes it to an Infiniti dealership, he says it’s a sport model but I have no way of knowing that just by looking at the pictures. The car looks like is fully loaded though with the nav and Bose sound, this guy is asking $9,990 for the 2007 which I think he’s overpricing it but not sure. Any help would be great!

$9.9k for a 2007 with under 100kmi isn't a bad deal IMO. I traded my 07 M35x to the dealer for $8000 if I recall with 142kmi on it back in 2014. Granted 6 years have passed since then but...

Unless he's buying from a dealership (to see what their markup is), I don't think you should use the trade-in value. Everyone knows that is considerably under what the car is worth because dealers need to make money. If this is a private ale, I would instead look at the private party sale value. If that is close to the asking price or just below, then work around that price.

All said and done though, usually trade-in is like 2k less than private, so that would put private at around 7k...guess these cars are cheaper than I thought these days since my last time owning a Y50.

It’s a private sale. I looked up KBB and the value was about $8500. So I’m definitely not trying to pay almost 10k for a 15 year old car. That’s the most expensive M35 I’ve seen in my area, I doubt he’ll go for 7k but I still want to go and check it out.

Kick the tires at $7,750 and go up to $8k and see what happens. Show him the KBB and if you want to get nuts, cross reference KBB with NADA. That'll show him that he's pricing his car based on his attachment to it rather than what the market says its worth.
