Hopefully there will be a new "Z" on the way. Should find out tomorrow for sure. It's a 1982 280ZX w/189k on it, and some body damage. It's about 200 miles away. So I'm working out the details of the deal and the arrangements to go pick it up.I'll be towing it home. I understand I will need to dis-connect the drive shaft. Maybe someone can help. What tools will I need to drop that shaft? This will be my first "Z", so I'm sure I will need some help until I get to know the car. I'll post some pics.,when I own it.

you only need to disconnect the driveshaft if the car is an auto and you flat tow or tow with a 2 wheel dolley, if that is the case disconnecting from the pinion flance is simple, just 4 nuts and bolts, 12mm IIRC, and you'll want some heavy wire to tie the driveshaft out of the way, unless you want to pull the shaft completely which will require you to drain all the trans fluid

sweet, just pop it in neutral and you're good to go, manual trans lubricate by moving, auto's need the fluid to be pumped, when the engine is off on an automatic you got no pump, someines you see RV's flat towing small cars they equip with electric trans pumps to keep the fluid moving while they tow

Thanks, I'm looking forward to picking your brains about these great cars. I'm pretty exited to finally own a classic again. It's been a while.

Thanks. Yeah, there's a few ideas bouncing around up there. Other than the obvious, fixin that quarter,The RF fender is also tweeked,Oh yeah, there's that minor damage to the door too. This will probably be a full restoration in slow motion, But not a concourse resto. I'm not really feeling the color combo,so i'm sure color change will be down the road. What I do know for certain is, she will not be a daily driver. Strictly for fun!!!

ouch! I hope you didn't pay a lot for that...

You might be real careful changing the color of a car, it really is a big job that should be done with a LOT of parts removed.

Thanks for the input. Being a 26 yr.old car,the engine compartment and all the jams are in pretty rough shape as far as paint goes,so they would have to be re-painted regardless. But your right it will be a lot of work. Actually the color is starting to grow on me. I do kinda have my heart set on a champaign w/black int. Dark colors look great but they are a lot of work to keep up.
