I'm currently in the market to replace my wife's 2010 Murano LE. We have a young family, so the QX60 seemed like a natural upgrade. It seems like i'll have a lot of options in my region. There are many 2014-2017's available without doing too much searching. I know that there were some body and cabin updates along the way, but curious on peoples opinion of a low mileage 2014 vs. a newer model (15/16/17). Are there features or reliability issues in specific years?

Thanks in advance.

I should also note that I've seen a lot of negative feedback online regarding reliability of the hybrid 2014, so it seems at the very least, that is one to stay away from....let me know if my concerns are valid.

I am in the same boat, we are upgrading from a Murano and looking at Pathfinders/JX35/QX60s right now. Curious what the forum's advice is for prospective used buyers.

we have a very early 2014, driven it 4.5 yr now. It has 36K mi. and never had it in for any work other than oil changes. As far as I'm concerned, 2014 is a good year to consider. I just looked at the 2018's on the showroom floor last week and they were identical. Same dash, same options. Ours was optioned with everything you could get. I'd get another

In my opinion the 2016 QX60 would be the model to get even though the 2017 and 2018 models are out.

A few reasons that I can think of are:

- the 2017+ models come with an approx extra 30 horses because it's direct injected. So far on the market, plenty of cars with direct injected engines have had issues with carbon build up so I would wait to see how the direct injected QX60 engine holds up over time (ford replaced cylinder heads every 30,000 miles on eco boost engines because there was no ford approved way to do an induction cleaning without frying the turbo due to increased temps which would void the warranty)

- the revised front end with the grille, the headlights to resemble the Q50, LED fogs and DRLs, and revised rear lights I think look better and more aggressive than previous models. 2017+ have chrome surrounds around the fogs instead of the silver ones( I prefer silver ones)

- the interior recieved some minor changes that just make the car feel more premium than previous models (the new shift knob, the trim bezel around the shifter, etc)

- the biggest update to the 2016 is the handling upgrade to the suspension. The older models had a very soft suspension which allowed for body roll in curves at high speed or turns on streets which was to close for comfort for me (I may be used to mine 2016, had a 2015 QX60 as a loaner from the dealer). They stiffened up the suspension and dramatically reduced the body roll for 2016 but it's not a harsh ride which I like.

I just use an adapter to plug in hdmi into the rca inputs for the theater package. The screens are not huge TVs so the resolution difference between the 2016 rca and the 2017+ hdmi are not noticeable in my opinion.

Just be sure to get a PPI from a third party and collect all documents you can if buying used. Also compare prices form other dealers and sites like autotrader, cargurus and autolist so that you know what expect to be a fair price. Look up technical service bulletins and any recalls that need to be preformed.

Good luck with your search! :)

I just purchased a 2017 QX60 with 26,000 miles, excellent condition, entertainment package dvd 2 sets headphones and remote, technology package, remainder of warranty 60k miles or 4 years. $28,800. I’ll add the tow hitch and roof cross rails. Will need to change tires in about 16 months. Did not come with the drivers assist package. Private party sale. Carmax had the same thing in 2015 model for about the same price.
