Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums and would just like some advice on buying a used 1994 Nissan 300zx N/A convertible. I found the car on craigslist, and I haven't seen the car in person. as you can see the picture, the car is in very good shape interior & exterior. The owner said he repainted 2 years ago, and the leather interior is in great shape. So the good part is the car looks really nice however the car has 230,000 miles on it and engine was replaced 4 years ago. The car looks like it has been taken care of by owners. he said he owned this car for 6 years. he said None of the hoses had any cracks and there were no signs of any leaks. he said all i need to do is 4 tires. My main concern is how is the reliability of these cars? This will be my daily driver, and I don't want to end of spending the same amount I bought the car for in repairs. Hopefully I've provided enough information for you to help me make a smart decision. Thank you for any help! oops the car price is $3000.

for 3k, if it actually runs its already a steal in that condition, being that the engine bay indicates that the car use to be black I would look for how well the paint job was done, as in if the jambs were painted and there are no other signs of the old color anywhere, otherwise I think it looks great.

For $3K I would tend to agree, especially being a '94 with the OEM upgrades to EFI and more. HOWEVER, as a 23 yr. old car there's always going to be risk as obviously reliability can't be great, but if the service was carried out well (Specialty Z is a great vendor) then it shouldn't kill you but the 230+K shell may give you a few issues here and there, such as the top and other small items. And maybe not though if the owner was a good one with maintenance and service...your inspection should give the final clues.
If you have some money left over after purchase that would be a great thing as insurance against more issues, Good Luck!
