Afternoon to all. Im in the process of buying a used 1990 240sx se. But a problem has come up. I recently ran the Vin on Carfax and its reporting that the car has 250k miles. But yet the owner insists that that is a estimate of how many miles it should have presently. And the original cluster was taken out because it stopped functioning, and replaced with a cluster from another car that has 176k miles. Im not sure how what i should do.. hes asking $1,200 for it. He says it has 114k "miles" Is there any way to find the actual miles? or should i just leave the lemon?

Miles are irrelevant. A compression test will tell you if the motor is good. Check over the wiring harness to make sure its not crusty from age. Drive it hard listen to the engine for ticks. Bang through all the gear to check syncros. Find a mechanic that is familiar with them and pay them to give it a good look over. I do it all the time for buddies for 100$. They get some peace of mind for a large purchase.
