Hello,

So I am contemplating buying an 02 QX4 2wd with 98K. Haven't seen it yet, will monday. I currently drive a very cherry 2001 E320 Wagon with 109K and have had excellent luck with the E class. But I am due for a change and I can't find a sedan I like (i hate the wagons).. So I am eyeing this. I have always liked em, but im hesitant.

The Rust issue has me scared.... (Im in portland and its 2wd, not sure how bad it could be)

How durable are these rigs? It supposedly has a strong service history and records, but could I see 300-350K out of it? I see them used with 200-250k, but I have also read some of the VQ35DE had some kind of timing chain issue... Does this apply this far back?

What do I need to look for if anything? Used to buying benz's. Used to the fact the Eclasses last well up into the 300K and run fine

Sorry for the questions, but im trying to decide if i should jump ship or not

I just picked up an 02 Pathy with 130k miles. All service history. Runs like a top. Only issues are needing some minor exhaust work. My truxk has NO rust issues. Strange as I live on long island ny. I guess it depends on how the owners take care of it. Good luck! I really wanted a qx4, but gor too good of deal with this.

I gave my 99 Pathfinder to my sister at 180k miles and its still tip top. Only reglar maintenance and a few new bushings. She is up to 195k and still loves it.

I picked up an 02 QX4 with 115k miles and Im more than happy with it. I have a few little things to take care of, but Id be totally comfortable taking it on a long road trip. Its much niver than the Pathfinder and its nice to have all the bells and whistles.

You cant have the mentality that it wont need anything as the truck is 12 years old with 100k miles, but all in all, its a good, dependable truck. I have no problem throwing a little time and money at my trucks, becuase I understand that things get old and tired eventually. I do find it odd that I dont really have to throw very much at all towards the R50 Nissans!

Good luck with it.

got mine @130k 3 years ago

now 135ish...hehe

Make sure to check for rust in the wheel wells / under the fender flares too if you have the time to unscrew them when you are inspecting during the sale...either way you can just sand them and bondo...no big deal if they price it low
