buying a s13, what to look for

Hi everybody!

My friend told me about this website, and from what I have seen so far, its pretty nice. I currently have a 89 Honda prelude si. I getting really tired of this cars limited capability and lack of available mods. I plan on selling the lude this summer and picking up a 91-94 S13, shortly after, I plan on doing a sr20det swap.

I am wondering what I should look for in the s13. What I should get so I can easily do the swap, and common problems with s13s that I should look for. Any info on this or the sr20 swap would be greatly appreciated. Im thinking about spending about $5000 on the 240.

Welcome to the board. I hate to be a nag , but search bro...alot of us have answered this question sooo many times. Try searching for "Just got s13" or "buying s13" etc..

I would also just buy a s13 with no engine for like 500 or so.

Wasn't '93 the last year they made the S13? I thought '94 and up the 240's were all based on the S14 model. Anyway, I'm really happy with my 93 240SX, its been everything I expected it to be. I guess just look out that the car is in halfway decent shape and you know...driveable for the time being (until you start upgrading it...).

yes but 94's were convertibles , not s14s.

As B240 said, please Search. Now that you know what to look for, you will be easily able to spot the red SEARCH button located in the upper right hand corner of this window.

If you're serious about doing an SR20DET swap, you can find an S13 with a blown engine for next to nothing. As far as where to get an engine, check Dauntless' post in the General section.
