I'm going to buy a new gun this week. It will be my primary home defense weapon. I'm 90% on the CZ75B in 9mm.

Anyone going to talk me out of it?

I keep hearing awesome things about CZ arms, but every one I've shot has disappointed me in many ways.

Ergonomics (I have big hands,) weak springs, kept double feeding, ect, ect.

I was way more impressed with Smith and Wesson's comparable models. I spent a whole day at the range just swapping out handguns, since it was $15 for unlimited rentals. Just paid for ammo after the initial $15. Walked out about $250 lighter in my wallet.

Were you shooting the polymer CZ guns? I'm not interested in those, only the full frame guns. I haven't held a polymer gun that felt good in my hand.

My current favorite is a browning highpower. It's very similar to the CZ75.

It was a mix of full frames and polymer compacts. Granted, the polymers were the ones that seemed to give me more trouble.

I've shot a compact.

Marvelous shooter. It impressed me more than the 9mm Dan Wesson Guardian I also shot. Being less than half the price of the guardian certainly helped.

The SP-01 tactical is on the list of pistols I want.

So yeah, solid buy. Sometimes European police trade ins pop up at very attractive prices.

Turns out they are not so easy to get a hold of.

All I know about this gun I learned from Anime. Apparently the pre-B CZ75's are the ones to get? (Gunsmith Cats)

Ya know, they don't turn up in a lot of shops. I've still yet to see an SP-01 tac. I've seen a few polymer framed shadows but that's it.

Keep looking. They're only getting more expensive. People discovered what a bargain they are.

I may buy something else. I'm looking at the SW M&P 45 at the moment. I can get one of these pretty easily and I'm a big fan of .45ACP.

While I've been shopping, I've come REAL close to picking up a SW M&P 15-22

There's one in my local Gander Mountain. I actually asked to see it. I loved where the rails put the tac light. Very easy to use. I liked it a lot, until I racked it. It had an insane catch at the very start of the pull, about 2mm back. In 9mm, it was way harder to rack than my .45ACP. I liked everything else on it. I'd have to mod the slide release though, as I'm a firm believer that any handgun you own should be able to be operated one handed and ambidextrously. The 1911 style slide release has always bugged me. My buddy's 1911 has a modded slide release and it's by far my favorite gun to shoot. Ever.

EDIT:
Forgot to mention, the sights on the SP-01 are great. Easy to see, and lines up very nicely. Great contrast. I just couldn't get past how hard the slide was to rack.

New Ruger SR45 would be my interest if looking for 45 ACP. After I got a 1911 at least.

Anything comparable from another maker is at least twice as much.

I'll probably try to pick up a Glock 19

I just held the Ruger SR1911 Commander version yesterday, needless to say I want it. Too bad I'm broke. And it was $800 at Gander which is probably $100-150 higher than other places.

Whelp, dunno about you guys but I got a new gun. Gen 4 Glock 19. Im impressed enough with it that I'm gonna be getting a gen 4 G20 in the near future.

My only gripe is that my hands are too damn big and the slide will bite me with a high grip. BUT Glock just started to release a back strap for the gen 4 that extends the beaver tail. Should remedy the problem for me.

CZ75B is a pipe dream for now. I think I may just grab an AR. I have the Browning High Power if I need a handgun, I don't have a rifle of any sort. My brother-in-law has one he might let go. He has 5 gun safes full as is.

Congrats on the purchase bud, the Glock 19 is decent. I'd prefer a 21..but that's just me.

Good news is that it seems ARs are in stock more recently. Not sure they have dropped any from the crazy prices, but at least they are available. My local gun shop has 6-7 of them in stock right now.

I've shot the 21. I think I'm gonna keep my .45's in the 1911 family now. For the most part anyway...

Oh I prefer a full frame to polymer. I'm just saying, if I'm gonna go poly...it's gonna be holding 45 ACP.

Read up on 10mm.

Also, same shop I bought it had a CZ-75b something...had an extra letter in it. Full size with the black poly coat, new priced at 530. Also had a full rail RIA....it almost went on layaway yesterday. Same price as the CZ actually. I was surprised. I can't remember for sure, but I wanna say he does gunbroker au tions, it's possible that cz might be on there...

They have a RIA with the rail? I can't find those anywhere.

The 10MM isn't a common round though. Where as 45 ACP is available everywhere. I like 9mm and 45 personally.

As do I. They now have two RIA's with rail. One with night sights!

I want a 10mm because good grief, that's a hard hitting round when loaded right.

As you know by now, I went with a Glock 21 G4. My first poly firearm.

Good pistols. Wait until you see the aftermarket and how ridiculous it is to swap parts on these things.
