I went with the AVIC D3.

Inexpensive compare to other unit available, easy to use and has on of the best ipod interface.

Is it possible to install a navigation system like this to a 96 pathy? Would this be difficult to do?

it easy to install into a 1996 nissan pathfinder. it is as simple as install a regular cd player.

I'd like to see how it looks, I have the Alpine IVA-W200, and the Blackbird GPS docked in the cubbyhole at the back. It looks really good, almost stock.

I imagine the Pioneer will look just as good.

(it's almost time for me to upgrade, I like the new IVA-W505 deck)

Yes, the Blackbird comes with a suction cup mount and 12 volt adapter to use in another car.

the older setup that I have has a separate dock for the unit, the newer ones mount into the actual head unit. I wonder how that would be, would definitely mean to put the gear lever away from Park when ejecting a disc. Not a problem for me, I've never had a CD in my Pathfinder since Ive bought it.

i dont use cds either its all ipod for me. anyway i saw the newer one the dock is above the cd player behind the screen kinda weird. but taking it out and using it in another vehicle seems appealing

I just put a D3 system in my 01 QX4(pics to come soon) and I gotta say it rocks. I also have the bluetooth module set up, the XM Nav Receiver (GEX-P10XMT) and tomorrow probably the pioneer backup camera. Personally I couldn't justify paying more for the features that the Z2 has which is mainly having to save the route and then taking the disk out in order to watch a DVD, but that's not a big deal for me. Enjoy your new unit and lets see some pics when you get it in!

the stereo is better than bose.

note: i replace all bose with rockford speaker and add an amp.
