Hey how’s it going everyone? I just joined this site and read a lot of posts seems like everyone pretty helpful here. Anyways to the point I have a couple questions before I buy a 2003 g35 coupe. Well my uncle has a body shop so basically were going to order a impact car from the states, he’s going to fix it up with no labor charges. Basically a 2003 g35 with about 75 clicks on it will cost me around 20,000. but I don’t know if its worth it…I know a lot of you guys will suggest no don’t buy a accident car, but in all honesty if there’s nothing wrong with the engine and im replacing most of the parts, I would think its worth it. Well I need some advice on all this, thanks.

If a car was totaled out by an insurance company one of two things occurred. 1. the cost to repair the vehicle exceeded the replacement value of the vehicle. 2. the damage to the vehicle is so severe that it can not be repaired to meet the safety guidelines of the state.

The only time I would consider a vehicle that was totaled is a vehicle that was for the first reason. And in most cases that would be an older vehicle. A newer vehicle that was totaled because of cost to repair exceeded the replacement value would have to have extensive damage. I would be concerned about that too.

If I got a car with the 2nd reason I would only use it for a parts car.

Here's the thing...

My last car had a damaged title. You can get into one with very low miles, for a fraction of the MSRP and not have any mechanical problems. However, if you get into an accident, the insurance Co. might screw you because the car isn't worth much in their eyes. Also, your factory warranty is void...so its really a gamble.

Personally, I wouldn't do it with a car that has a high retail value (30k+).

Well the car is damaged to the point I have to spend about $7000 on it. And I’m buying it for 10,000, now u make the judgment if that’s a lot or little. And yes I agree with what everyone is saying in here but at the same time I’m curious to know what can possibly be wrong with the car? I know it’s a very broad question, but taking everything okay with the engine what else can be wrong?

Bent frame that will keep you from every driving straight. Cracked frame that if ever damaged again may not have the integrity to with stand the accident. Water leaks from seals that won't properly seal. If it is from a flood the electrical system may be damaged and/or mold that will never leave if you have to replace the electrical system it can be very time consuming doing it yourself and expensive to have someone else do it.

If there is nothing wrong with the motor and trany put it in a 240 or something that would be btichen!

Be warned about totaled vehicles they were totaled for a reason most of the time.

I would stay away from flood damaged cars!! I bought my firebird because I saw the pics of the deer in the windshield. (car slid off the road, into a snowbank) I couldn't pass up the great deal on a year old car with 150 miles on the odometer!
