well, i'm shopping for a used g20 for my mom. was thinking of a '99-'02, spending between 9k and 15k. anybody got any tips, or can point me in the right direction? i'd like to know if there are any known issues out there, or any particularly pricey repair bills lurking. thanks for the help. randyoh, any subtle differences between model years would be good too.

No known issues at all.One of the most reliable cars ever sold in the USA.Differences between the 99-02 are mostly trim related and not significant.I belive teh 99-02 G20 to be among the best kept secrets of teh used auto market.

The g20t came with limited slip differential (traction control) the g20 didn't, later on for I think 01 and 02 the t model was renamed G20 sport (at least up here in Canada).
the '00 to '02 models have an extra factory massaged 5hp, the 1999 models don't. I've been told that the 1999 model is easier to work on and modify than later models by a number of P11('99-'02) G owners up here. One modification they recommend is a cold air intake or after market turbo. Accelaration of the light is leisurely.
If gas prices keep creeping up, I'm tempted to trade in my J for a nice low mileage '02 model.
