So being a new member To NIcoclub, but a veteran when it comes to Nissans. This site has influenced me to buy a datsun as a side project. the only problem is i dont know where to start. ive never restored a classic. what should i look at? anything i should look for in particular? i found one on ol' craigslist. I love the 240z and the 280z but i dunno where to start with either. help?

look for rust, rust is the number one killer, it's a lot easier to replace mechanical parts than to replace rotten floor pans and fraem rails, the whole cars are prone to rusting as you can see that one has a lot of surface rust, honesly unless the pans and rails are perfect I think I'd pass on that one

I ended up purchasing something out in AZ because everything here in the midwest is rusted out. Check the Craigs list in CA, AZ, and NM. There are some real good deals that pop up. I ended up paying $1K to have the car delivered back here to Ohio on a transport. That is cheep compared to rust repairs.

I like the 240Z and there a a bunch of them out there. Keep an eye out for the floor pans and the frame rails like evildky says. I think you should drive a few of them to see what fits your style. Maybe that will help.
