Does anybody know of where I could get a RWD CA transmission? I would like to maybe find one and rebuild it but keep the car running. Are there any sites or anybody just have one lying around. It needs to be in working condition though.

That post was about as relevant as this one was, but a raging panda is somewhat similar to a raging bear of any sort, its just that they look cooler doing it with the black and white and all. Just like Takumi wouldn't have looked as cool with a brown car, a raging bear just looks cooler black and white. Seriously though, does anybody know where I could get a transmission?

well i suppose you could build it out of the bellhousing and when time comes to switch just put in the new transmission into the Ca housing ! just use some Ka or Sr transmission! i think youll fit in here!

Ok, well the thing is I may be able to get a CA but there is no transmission with it. Thus the asking for a transmission. Does anybody know what goes into making the KA transmission fit onto the CA other than the bellhousing? Are there other parts needed.

let me know how much you're willing to pay and I'll let you know how much I'm willing to sell it for...

just to let you know i paid $200 plus shipping for it...

no why would i?

the plan was to put the engine in stock:D but i would not buy any of those piggyback things...there's a local shop in tampa i would have them dyno tune it and remap my ecu if i was gonna do any serious tuning to it!

yeah, get a 5 speed transmission out of a 1984 to 1988 200sx, preferably a turbo transmission, as I beleive they are a bit stronger. the NA motors are CA20E and the turbos are CA18ET, no D. should bolt RIGHT up

SHOULD bolt right up, are you saying that they absolutely do? I don't want to buy an engine, get a 200sx transmission, put the two up to eachother and find out that they're not supposed to fit. I hope you are right though. So do those engines share the same block or something? Same bellhousing and everything? That would also mean that it has the same transmission as all the SRs KAs and CAs right?

I dunno actually, let me do some checking. I have a FWD CA16DE block and a RWD CA18ET block that I am combining. If the RWD CA18ET transmission will bolt on to the FWD CA16DE block, then I am almost positive that it will! Nissan are the masters of interchangeability. thats why my CA16DE head fits on my CA18ET block!

The CA18ET blocks the same as the DET right? RWD I mean. So hopefully they fit so I can run out and find a 200sx and just steal its transmission.

All CA engines use the same block formation and yes, the 200sx's transmission does fit the CA18DET. Either the CA20 or the CA18ET transmission would work, but I would go for the CA18ET transmission.

Is there a difference between the ET and DET transmissions? Would the transmission line up with the transmission mounts and the shifter hole and everything?

Their lengths should pretty much be the same, however, I can't confirm this (I'm sure they are).

Since you guys are already talking about interchangeability, and i far too lazy to create a new post, I'll ask the question here.

As you have stated the rwd ca18et transmission swaps in nicely, what would you guys say to a full ca18et swap into a s14. I would like to know if it would mount up correctly. Here is my logic so you guys don't think i am totally insane.. I know somebody on the boards that has a ca18et in his 85 200sx. My thoughts were, since det fits into a 200sx with minor alterations, a ca18et should fit into a s14 with the same alterations.

my plans were ca18et with a ca16de head.

yes, you could put a CA18ET in a s14 chassis, but the CA18ET sucks. at least in stock form. yes, it is possible to just "bolt on" a ca16de head, but that still leaves you with the weak stock rods and an un-girdled bottom end.

in retro spect, I should have just bought a front clip, lol. but in all actuality for the price of a front clip I am getting a fully rebuilt motor, bored over, ceramic coated pistons, combustion chamber and exhaust ports, cryo treated con rods, pistons, and probably crank too.

p.s. with the CA18et transmission, I will OWN the roads in 1st and second gear. retardedly low gearing, witha new 8000 rpm capability (ca18et is 6000rpm redline) it should be fun!!!

Well for the amount of money i'm spending to have a 1.8 turbo in my car, regardless of how much power it lacks is worth it to me. What would it take to get a ca18et up to 200 - 220 hp?

$100 for a boost controller and then money to rebuild the motor after it blows. $500 for pistons, $300+ for rods, $50+ for rings, new head gasket+various other gaskets.

you may as well just buy a turbo kit for your KA. seriously. those CA18ET's are pretty weak. getting 200hp out of them is gonna be hard. go to www.club-s12.org and go into the CA18ET forum. there are not a lot of CA18ET's pushing much over 170ish.

P.S. sorry for teh thread jacking, but its not my fault!! lol. If anyone wants I can measure my CA18ET transmission from bellhousing to tail shaft if anyone needs this info, cound the number of teeth on the splines, anything? pictures?
