Guys how much would you pay for a blown motor G35 Coupe, I believe first year they were out with over 100k miles, it is a 6 speed.

Also how much can I pick up a used motor for and expect to pay for it to be installed and the clutch changed?

Thank you guys I really appreciate any feedback, it's my first time on these forums but I am on 5 other car forums of those that I have owned.

Welcome to NICO! Hard to answer these questions as most of our members do not go into modifying their engines. Your best bet is to check with a few shops that have tuned a few G's.

5 grand tops.

Plan to spend about about $2000 on a low mile used motor. I would swap the same year same VIN code motor to avoid other problems. What about the motor is blown? Is it just a head gasket? You might just replace the head and gasket and drive it. I bought a 91 Sunbird with a blown head gasket in 97 for $100. Spent about $200 on replacing the headgasket and brakes. Drove it a year and traded it on a Altima. The dealership gave me $1000 for it!

Shop for motors on ebay put in VQ35DE and you will get hits. Also check out www.car-part.com

On my G the motor is in a cradle if you have a lift you can unbolt the cradle and lift the car off the motor pretty easy to swap if you have a lift.

you can check the classifieds or put out a wanted to buy. Otherwise e-bay, craigslist or a junkyard are your best bets.

I would spend no more than 7-8k for the car and expect to pay 3-4K for a motor and installation at a shop. The only issue with buying a used engine is the unknown oil consumption issue that may or may not have. Seems with the price of the car and engine/installation, it would be easier to just buy a G35 that already runs for 10-12K. I purchased a salvaged title 04 6 speed 350z over the summer with hydro-locked motor for 7k and installed a flywheel, clutch and engine I already had in storage, that was a good deal. Now if I had to spend another 3-4 for shop work & engine, then it would have been better to buy a already running z.

Thanks guys is it common to have a blown motor at 125k on these cars?

Is the engine I need the same in all g35s and 350zs?

No & No.

03-04 was different than the 05-07 and 07-08 were different than the other previous years. I would find the engine for the year car you have to make sure you have no issues.

Thanks man where did you pick up your engine?

What miles do these engines typically run to?

Anything else besides clutch I should do while its out at 125k?

Thanks!

I bought mine locally with 50K miles on it. I would opt for a light weight flywheel, ACT streetlite, since the OEM unit can't be resurfaced and cost $800-1k new. You can get a flywheel & clutch for 600-700. I would also replace all the gaskets for the engine such as exhaust manifolds, intake manifold, valve solenoids, etc.

I have 98k on my 2007 G35 and it still runs great! My car is driven hard everyday but I keep it maintained. Look at the I30's and J30's running around on autotrader and craigslist you can find some Infiniti's with over 200,000 miles still on the original motor that start up and run just fine.

I am expecting to keep my G until around 200k miles when I will sell it or turn it into a track toy.

Thanks a lot is there a kit for the gaskets or do I have to get individually?!
I know you can go on and on with replacing things like vacuum lines etc so I guess it would depend on the condition of the engine.

I have a list of part numbers for the all the gaskets required. I will look up the invoice.
