Buying a 92 240sx questions

Hi everyone I have been in love with the 240sx since i seen my first one and now i have a great opp to buy one it runs good and there are no mechanical problems...but its been rolled the guy only wants 500 for the car and he claims the only thing it needs after his repairs is a windshield and a decent amount of body work(no biggie ima replace most the s*** on it anyway) im going to go check it out saturday and i am very interested but what i want to know is if need how much money/trouble will it be to replace the roof of the car arms and all and is it worth the money thanks

The cost of the chassis repair may be more than the car's worth. dont quote me on that though

well thats how i feel but where im at 240s are far and few in between i think i have seen maybe 3 running and i live close to a trade school and they will weld for free (i guess for experience and credits) ima take a look at it saturday tho and i could post pics and you guys could tell me what you think

lol really the only thing i know about 240s is i like the way they look so some help is much appreciated

I know it may be a good deal but i would never in a million years buy a rolled car. Try to find one with a clear title or a rebuild is fine, no rust, runs good, around 150k miles tops, regular oil changes, no shift grinds, etc. It will show up sometime, trust me

But 240s are getting cheaper dude... they're out there... you just have to search harder I guess (depending on your location).

well my first car was a 94 civic that had been rolled and it wasnt a big deal to get it rollin or lookin good a 80mph into a tree does wonders for a frame

really i was hoping to find someone that could give me a ballpark est. on the time and effort of replacing the roof depending on how bad it is or even needs further repair you guys just dont understand how tight of a bind im in right now i just need a car that i can fix up as i drive and if it can pass inspection and is less that 500...waiting is just something that i cannot do options are very limited

i seen a stealth with 200k miles and a JSP T2 Wing for like 5500 thats 2k over kellysbb for exc condition lmao

oh and well a r33 for 34k (def dont have the cash for that)i live in a terrible state everything for sale is rusted out or a f***in hillbilly bonanza ride

F**** that. Don't buy that car you know how much money and headache your gonna have to put out. You said u wanna change things too? that's cool but ur gonna be changing you fenders and bumpers and maybe a spoiler. not to mention the title maybe salvaged so you'll have a headache insuring that as well. My advice to you is be patient. Use craigslist and this forum and you'll find something more for ur money and less of a headache. Like u said our cars are a rarity n trust when i tell you its a itch to find things sometimes. Also be aware that you take ur car to that school at your own risk, we will have to sign a waiver. Basically meaning if they messed up your messed up.

oh i know but the welders up there are good i know a few of them and i still maintain that im going to replace all the exterior anyways just slowly and a few pieces at a time i know its not going to be cheap in the long run thats no problem but for now i need a car oh and this IS from craigslist

(by the way im kinda fishing for a reason that convinces me to go either way im kinda hardheaded)

but the biggest reason is that thru my entire life when i wait for something better it never comes which is why im here right now about this car
