who is to say a miata is not a dift car. Watch the drift bible KT drifts one in there. But to answer about the swap it all depends on where you go and if they install it.

the miata is a good drift car, id keep it, but then i like 240s way more so nevermind. i got an option mag with a miata with a nice n/a buildup and some drift shots of it. looked good. the sr swap might run a tad expensive, i just saw a fully ready-to-install red top at phase2motortrend for $6,500. id reccommend getting a full set up like this one, tho i remember sr20's going for $2,000 a few years ago. im too broke to consider this swap for quite some time. :..(

If you are buying a mint condition '90 240 then why spend all that extra money on swapping in an un-necessary motor? Yea its more powerful and yea it's the thing to do cause its jdm tyte, but, i dunno I dont understand your logic. Just boost the Miata and it will get sideways.

If your just getting started just keep the Ka motor. I just started this year with a 89 240 with the sohc. Great for learning and over the winter I'll upgrade the engine. I'm sure there will be a few people on this board who will need cash for christmas. The miata is a good drift car though it is little harder to control the slide. They tend to come around faster. But start with your 90. Do the suspension first, maybe an LSD (900-1000 for a good 2 way) then worry about an engine when you get better.
