Im looking to buy a coupe right now. Preferably a 91-94 so i can get the ka24de motor. If i go with an 89-90, with the ka24e, whats the power difference? Is it a big gain or just enough to notice. Not trying to do to much to the car, smog laws are a b**** in CA. Anyways, what are some of the key places i should look when buying one? Im trying to find one with under 150k, and stock, not some piece a kid has a**'d. If i get one with a welded diff, am i gonna go through tires decently quick? Im trying to make this car a reliable daily driver but still get sideways on the weekends

Thanks, Andrew

- Most will say the power difference isn't really noticeable

- Look preferably for a one or low # of owner 240. Or someone that's really old and has had the car forever.

- With a welded diff, yeah you're gonna go through more tires. If you want it to be a daily as well, get a 1.5 way, 2 way, or a vlsd.

yea thats what im aimed at, finding an original owner or adult driven at least. Seems like up here you cant find coupes that arn't all thrashed, hatch's are a dime a dozen it seems like, and most are beat! Just gotta be patient and craigslist everyday haha. Thanks for the help, and for the welcome!

I think the SOHC has about 140 hp and the DOHC has 155 hp, so power wise is only a little. Looks wise, I'm not a big fan of the pignose bumper, so I'd take 91+. The KA24DE motor looks nicer too. I've also read threads on gas mileage and alot of people seem to think their KA24E motor eats more gas than what people with the DE motor says. If you plan on doing an SR swap later too, then I'd think the 91+ would be an easier platform to work with for PS and AC.

Overall, whatever you find will be great because it will be a 240!
