Hey guys,

I am looking into becoming an Infiniti owner. My mechanic says the Infiniti g35/g37 is the best used car you can buy under $20k.

I found a G35 sedan, and I am considering picking it up, here is the info on it:

2007 or 2008 G35S Sedan with an Auto
Loaded, with Navigation, and Sport Wheels(No curb rash)
Tan leather with Aluminum trim, and Factory spoiler with brake light
2 owner, and serviced at the local Infiniti dealer
Has 51,200 miles and the guy wanted 14,000 originally, but he just lowered the price to 13,000
No dents, or scratches. It is cosmetically in great shape.
Have not driven it yet. His wife drove it, but they have three kinds so the guy bought his wife an Expedition.

I think it is a good deal on a good car, but I am unsure. I don't need another car, but this seems like something you can't pass up. I was thinking of offering him $12k.

What do you guys think?

Hey guys I noticed there were no replies. Did I break a forum rule?

Anyway, I researched the car a bit and I believe it is over priced. Edmunds suggest the car is worth 11,500. I think the car might sell for 10,000 or less. I found out it does not have: Heated Seats or Mirrors, Adaptive Cruise Control, Parking Sensors, or Back-Up Camera. So its pretty missing all the cool stuff. Also the absence of heated seats is a no-no for leather.

I still would like to hear what you guys think.

It is on Craigslist Baton Rogue:

It would be nice to have to share the load between my CTS and DSM. If I bought it I would for sure track the car.

An 08 with that low miles would be a good catch at the right price. My wife really likes her 07 G35x and I love my 11 G37S, both sedans with hers auto and mine manual. No major issues with her car and zero with mine.

Has your mechanic inspected the car? Although it looks good, you need an inspection to rule out expensive mechanical issues.

I have not taken it to my mechanic yet. He said he would inspect it for me. He was a technician at the Infiniti dealer when they were new before starting his own shop. He told me to really inspect the car he would have to push it to the limit as to make sure the ABS and Traction systems are performing correctly, because of the car's nature and chance of abuse.. I would get a Carfax and visit the local dealer for a report on work done to the car.

I have not been to serious about it as I was not sure if the car was worth it. It does not have the tech pack which is a bummer, but from the report you guys have with the cars they sound like good vehicles. There is a who has an 04 4 door manual who tracks it regularly and has no issues.

I want the car as it has the power and performance that my 03 CTS is lacking, but I was kind of looking for an excuse to buy it. The guy said it was his wife's car and clams she drove like an old lady.

Just from my inspection I can tell that the car will need new rotors on all four corners as the rotors are rough likely from wearing the pads down or high speed braking, and sitting at a light. It will need a new set of tires soon. From the condition of the headlights it does not appear to have had an accident. He said they hauled kids around in it.

I guess the question is: if I am looking at a g35/g37 would it be better to shop around for a better deal, or is this one too good ignore and I should check it out more?
