Just found a 2000 Infiniti I30 non touring. It is a 2 owner, first being from Florida, 2nd for 8 years with all service receipts. The car has 157k and needs an o2 sensor, she said she got a shop quote for $244.00. It's clean inside and out aside from a dent between both passenger doors from her husband bumping into it in the driveway which does not hinder operation, hopefully I can get a shop to pull it out well enough and cheap. I considered doing the o2 sensor myself but I don't know which one it is or if it's worth it for a novice to do it. Just wanted to say hello.

Welcome to NICOclub!

I've had my I30 since 100k miles(at 149k now) and its been an excellent vehicle in the 4yrs I've had it so far. As for the O2 sensor, you can find out which one it is by stopping by Advance Auto Parts and having them scan your codes for you. If you don't have one locally, some other auto parts stores will do it as well. Once you find what code the O2 sensor is putting out, you can post it up here and we can help you figure out which on it is and how easy it will be to replace.

For the dent, check around for one of the paintless dent repair services. They're usually reasonable and a lot cheaper than a body shop for repairs like that.

I'm gonna move this over to the Maxima/I30/I35 forum too.

Here's a slide show from when I changed front and rear engine bank O2 sensors on my Maxima. My 99 I30 has a similar setup. When it's time to replace the exhaust pipe sensor, I will add that operation to the slide show. The tool made it an easy operation.

Should I be scared away by the mileage? Being at 157k and all? Do I have to drive it like an old man?

I wouldn't be scared one bit by the mileage. Mine is getting ready to roll over to 150k miles and I take good care if it, but I'm not afraid to rip on it either. As long as its been maintained properly, you should have nothing to worry about. There are a lot of these cars on the road with well over 200k on them.
