Hello!
Last week, my 1994 Infiniti Q45 was totalled when it was rear-ended (and pushed into another car). It was a great ride in terms of comfort and quality. Although its carbon footprint is now gone, it will forever leave a footprint on my heart.
There was a really helpful post in the Q45 forum about what buyers needed to know when looking at buying a used Q. I wondered if there was a similar resource for used Maximas of the various vintages?
My subject vehicle:
1995 Nissan Maxima SE
5-speed with 147,000 kms (92,000 miles)
All records since new. Single owner. Clutch, brakes, exhaust, and tires all replaced within last 20,000 Kms (12,000 miles)
In Canada, I have online resources that verify both the mileage and the accident history, so no bad secrets there.
CAD $3,000
I listened closely right after startup with the hood open for the eternal exhaust manifold leaks - sounded pretty quiet. I drove a 1986 Toyota Camry 5-speed for 17 years and the shifting feels pretty much the same as that model. No slips or shudders. Engine runs nice and smooth. Interior is beautiful (leather).
The only oddity I notice is that there is a metallic scraping sound coming from the (rear?) brakes when braking at low speeds.
Your advice greatly appreciated. Thank you
