Hi, :wavey: this is my first post.
I'm looking into a 2011 M37 Sport with 150K miles.
Original owner, has dealer maintenance records, highway miles. Car looks in great shape, on pics...will check it out and test drive it in a couple of days.
Any advise on things to look for when checking this car out?
Anyone at or around that mileage on an M37/56?

Thanks

I hope you are getting the car for a dirt cheap price. Even though the car was well maintained, some components will be nearing the end of their useful life. You will need to budget for high maintenance costs. Personally I would spend more and buy a car with lower miles.

I sold my 2007 M35x with 142kmi to the dealer in November 2014 for $8200 or so. Obviously dealer probably sold it for $9-9,500 at the auction is my guess...but $11k is a lot IMO for a car that old.

150k is alot.highway or not.
All parts start failing at that point.
Steering rack
Shocks
Tierods
Transmission
Bearings
Sparkplugs last till 100k.give or take
Rear end.
Bushing start to squeak..

Id pass and save more money up...good things come to those who wait

I have to agree with the others. The only way I would consider buying at that mileage is if I could see documentation that the previous owner did the suspension, plugs, steering, coolant, all fluids, etc. Even then, I would not pay 11k. I'd offer about 8k. At 150k miles, you probably won't be able to get an aftermarket warranty, or it would cost you a small fortune. Even maintenance aside, the computers, the electronics and the rest of the parts are near the end point and those things easily go into thousands to replace.

why is everyone saying the car is about to fall apart at 150k? if hes got all the maintenance records whats the big deal? the VQ37HR motor is solid way past 150k with all the proper maintenance done.

Bluebook on private party is still around 16k and dealer trade in is at 14k. I would think 11k for a mostly highway driven (which you would have to, 150k is real high for a 2011) isnt too terrible. if he buys something with say 80k miles hes looking at another $10k to the price.

Again, this only makes sense, because its a one owner with all the records, and it sounds like it was maintiained by infiniti. if he hasnt had any major problems with the car by this point, chances are hes going to be good for alot longer.

I generally agree with you. My 07 had 140k on it (hard miles too :chuckle: ) and it was fine. These cars should last to 200k easy if taken care of/maintained. I guess my post should say, "if everything up to this point was changed as needed, it's a decent buy".

I'm going to go for a test drive tomorrow and ask for records of what has been done to vehicle repair/maintenance wise. I drive less than 12k miles per year...plan to keep this one for year and a half. I figure i can squeeze another 18 to 20k miles without spending too much on repairs.
Again, thanks. :dblthumb:

I'm sure the engine has plenty of miles left as well. However, it's the suspension, steering, cats, injectors, air/con, and electronics that could go in the next 50k miles and those things aren't cheap. The book value for this car with 150k miles runs from $9k for "fair cond" to $12k for "excellent cond". My recommended offer of 8,000 was a little on the low side. Long as you set a few dollars aside each month for repairs, and you can get it for closer to $10k, I think it's worth a go. After all, it's not like you're buying an American car that begins to deconstruct after 100k miles. This is a very well-built, well-designed car.

Yeah ill shoot for 10k.
My budget for a car is 19k
Wanted a 2nd gen FX35, $22-25k
An M37 $24-28k
Have enough to purchase a G37 sedan with low miles. But not really sold on the body style.
I wish i could save up to get what i really want but i need the car asap. :ohno:

Maintenance records are OK, however, repair records are also very important. There are parts that wear out that do not require maintenance. A few major repairs can easily cost you $10K

Just my opinion... I wouldn't buy any car with 150k miles on it no matter what the records say. Not only is it not worth as much if and when you try to resell it, little things are going to start failing and cost money and inconvenience you.
