I am buying a 2008 M35X in next day or two and know I will be pitched on dealer-added paint and rust protection, etc. I tend to consider all such products almost to be scams, but I wonder if there are contrary views. I buy my cars new and keep many years in a tough Wisconsin climate. Also curious for any other buy-time advice. I am really excited about the car and like this forum. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to NICO!

Yes, most dealer add-ons are pretty much not worth the money. Stick with the stock wheels but ask to not get the Goodyear Eagle RS-A though, if you can!.

If you are in lots of snow in the winter, then getting a spare set of cheap steel wheels and snow tires is a must. Even with the X models.

Get those wheels and snow tires after-market (from Tire Rack for example)!

Yes, I second the motion. Demand they not install the Goodyear RSA's. Read about "tramlining;" the RSA's are the champs thereof on the M.

I bought the maintence package. Basically pre paid for all of my oil changes and maintenence for the first 60000 miles. Its pretty nice since they actually come and get my car and deliver a loner so I'm never stranded and I dont have to worry about it. That was definatly worth the $1200.

Oops, yes, about the only thing I would definitely get is the Extended Warranty if you plan to keep your car past the standard warranty mileage.

Repairs on all modern car electronics tend to be expensive.
