Sorry in advance if this has already been asked or the info is available elsewhere. I am at work and just wanted to post to get some responses and didn't have the time this minute to look for answers in too much detail.

I'm about to buy a 2006 G35x sedan. It is automatic and has 76.5k miles on it. I don't believe the transmission fluid has ever been changed. Also, do I have to worry about having transmission problems if I replace it at this point?

Should I change it, if so, what should I use? How often do you guys change yours and what is your recommendation?

Also, do I need to worry about my differential fluids?

Thanks!

Welcome to NICO!

The older G's you can change out the fluid...not so much on the G37s. Make sure to use Nissan oil only. A dealer or online are your best bets. They should be changed around 75-100k depending on abuse.

I'd leave the diff fluid alone unless the car has been beat.

should get the new matic-S fluid for the transmission also, when you get it flushed, that came out around 2008... im sure that 2006 G has the old formula transmission fluid.

You will find many conflicting opinions here on just about everything so you will have to sort it all out and do what makes sense to you,

Here is my $.02

Rule number
1- Never try to fix anyting that isn't broke.
2 Change your oil and filters regularly including the cabin filter once a year.

As for transmission and differential I have a manual 6 speed so those fluids have never been touched. The coolent was replaced and flushed at 105k with new plugs, hoses and belts.
My last automatic transmission vehicle was a 74 Mazda RX4 that I sold after 17 years with over 100k miles. It still had the original trans and diff fluids when I sold it.
I personnally don't believe it is necessary unless you are having some sort of problem but if it makes you feel good then I suppose you could. I just wouldn't but thats me.

Good luck

Thanks for all the help guys. I got a full service record from its original dealer. transmission was changed by the dealer at 61K miles. Should be good for a long while.
