We just ordered an Altima Coupe 3.5 SR 6 Speed Manual Transmission with Navi, spoiler, splash guard, and (Black on Black). This is our first brand new car with zero miles. Does anyone have a 3.5 SR 6 speed? Can you give me any advice and/or tips? Does it ride rough? Is there any cons?
I've heard that you have to drive a new car a certain way, what is that?
What type of fuel do you put in it?
The dealer tells us that this type of car is hard to find, we kind of think that he is just pulling our chain or is he right?
Thanks. We are so excited.

The dealer is right. Finding a new manual 3.5 on the lot is next to impossible.

Thanks. This is good to know. Glad the dealer wasn't pulling our chain. How would you drive the coupe?

You drive an Altima like you stole it. :naughty: They tell you not to drive it to hard for the first 5000 miles I think. I can't remember the mileage. They tell you to very your speed and rpm. Congrats on your new coupe and enjoy it. :mike

Most 3.5SRs have recently been hard to come by (at least in NY). My dealer had to go out of state for the super black/red leather combo I picked up last week.

From the 2010 manual, "Break-In Schedule":

During the first 1,200 miles (2,000 km), follow these recommendations to obtain maximum engine performance and ensure the future reliability and economy of your new vehicle. Failure to follow these recommendations may result in shortened engine life and reduced engine performance.
● Avoid driving for long periods at constant
speed, either fast or slow, and do not run the
engine over 4,000 rpm.
● Do not accelerate at full throttle in any gear.
● Avoid quick starts.
● Avoid hard braking as much as possible.
● Do not tow a trailer for the first 500 miles (800 km). Your engine, axle or other parts could be damaged.

There are different opinions when it comes to "breaking in" a new vehicle. Mine is just drive it. I've got 2300 miles on mine and although I dont drag race it or do highway pulls, I just drive how I drive. Sure 2300 miles isnt a fraction of what the engine can last but my baby hasn't missed a beat and i dont think she will.

If you want to play it safe because your paranoid, which you kind of sound like you are, then follow those directions you see and you cant go wrong.

And of course, it is the worst thing to bog a brand new engine. Meaning if your cruising at 45-50mph in 4th and you come to a hill, rev-match down to 3rd so you aren't really stressing the engine and what not. Just my 2 cents!
