buyin HS header, need new gasket?!

sup peeps, im ordering a hot shot header friday for my 91' 240sx, now i ve been told ill need to buy a new header gasket? Now is this true? Can i jus buy a stock replacment gasket? anyone have ther expeirences to share with me on this topic?

If you're talking about the exhaust mainfiold gaskets, yes, you need to replace the gaskets (you'll need four of them) when installing the headers. i just used went to a Nissan dealership, they had them in stock, they were like $7 a piece though! Work fine for me...

There are 4 cylinders in an inline 4---therefore, there are 4 exhaust outlets, therefore 4 tubes in the headers, one for each exhaust outlet, so you need one gasket for each exhaust outlet. It looks sort of like it could be a one piece gasket, but its not...

And you'll need another gasket where the headers connect to the "dummy cat."---the headers replace the main cat, and bolt right up to that piece that looks like a cat but isnt..

hahah yeh i understand now. I too thought that main gasket was one piece, but anyway when i goto the dealershir of auto store what all gaskets do i ask for?

I'd go to your nissan dealership, they have nice pictures on the computer where you can point out what you want...you need 4 exhaust manifold gaskets and I'm not sure what the exact name of the other gasket is, its the one that connected the real cat to the rest of the exhaust...just look under your car to make sure you know what you need...

Hes got a 91 so the lower cat is the only cat (my 96 has 2 btw).

7$ each daaaaamn mine where like 3 or 4 each. Pays to have your best friend as a nissan tech hehe.

Does anyone here know where I can pick up a HotShot headers for my 240Sx since I live in Canada and it is hard to find a distributor up here..

i got mine form enjuku racing for 319 free shippin jsut say in the message part 240sx.org and they will adjust it. they sent me the gaskets that i need for it. a one peice at the head and then the lil one where it meets the exhaust pipe. jsut got it a couple weeks ago so its the newest desigin thats a single peice hopefully goin to the track tonight
