i was wondering if anyone has put a push button start on their car , i got one but cant understand the diagram that well. I have a 90 240 hatch so any help would be appreciative. The button I bought , you have to turn the key then push the button so no one steals it.

Thanks in advance

Actually toki is right, it serves no purpose, but i decided i wanted to try it out, but no instructions came with it. Also i have an alarm does that affect the wiring?

is there anyway you could scan the diagram or take a pic or something? it'd be cool to replace the car lighter with the push button start thingy...

As aires pointed out a long time ago (I think it was aires...) all the push button ignition does is override your current keyed ignition. So just as the key completes the circuit in your current on, the button, when pressed, will do the same thing. All you have to do is find the right wires and splice them to the switch. Not to hard with DVOM and a basic knowledge of electricity.

i had to install a push button after my 5sp swap. its simple. theres a little wire with a plug coming off of the starter, youll connect one wire from your button to this wire and another wire to the battery. the button will spin he starter even if the car is off but she wont start up. you just need to turn the key all the way to the start posiition wile pushing the button or it takes awile to start. must be soome sort of choke system

i just figured it out....black/white and black/yellow and white(from push button) have to be put together inorder for the button to work....on the car side. if you want key or button to start the car i guess connect all four together with that white wire. but try that one at your own risk. it should work but im not sure bout it.
