I've searched this site and others, but can't find what would seem to be an easy answer.

I have an '03 Pathfinder SE. It does have the auto start option. I have accidentally started it in the past. I got it to start yesterday but don't know in what sequence I pushed the lock/unlock buttons. I do know that I held the unlock down when it did start, but not sure what I did before that.

Anyone?

I didn't know that they offered a remote start system from the factory. Are you sure you don't have an aftermarket system?

Bought the vehicle 2 months ago. The previous owner said the same thing, "I've accidentally started the car, but don't know how I did it". She didn't mention that they had added a remote starter. I use the factory key fob.

Where would I look to find/see a remote start unit on the vehicle?

Yeah, the keyfob button sequence will be specific to the remote starter unit. Try looking under the steering wheel area, behind the glove box and around the passenger foot well area. If it is not in either areas, then it may be under the head unit behind the center dash area.

Another option would be to try different key sequences and see if any work. Most likely the only button it would implement is the lock button to start the vehicle, so I would try a bunch of sequences with the lock button on the keyfob.

A chevy van conversion that I had a while back would have you hold the lock and unlock at the same time for a couple of seconds. You can try that.

I highly doubt that it came with a factory remote start. I've never heard of one having that feature. If there is some remote possibility (no pun intended) that it is factory, then it should have something in the user manual.I'm guessing like everyone else that it's an aftermarket unit.I have remote start in all 3 of my vehicles by the way, and they are all after market installs. The first thing I'd look for is the antenna. There has to be one somewhere.Mine are installed in the upper left (driver's side) corner of the windshield. I'll try and take a picture of one tomorrow when it's daylight, and post it up. Some may be installed above the rear view mirror. Have a look at those two places first. If they are there, then you know it's an aftermarket unit.Secondly, try and get the brand name of the unit if at all possible, and maybe do a search that way.Usually these things come with their own remotes by the way (mine did).As for the location of the 'brain', it will be under the dash somewhere.Exactly where would have been up to the guy who installed it.Hope that helps a little.

Thanks guys. I'll look around for it. I know its not in an obvious place. I'll check under and behind the dash area.

I have an 03 Pathfinder with remote start on it also. It was on the vehicle when I bought it, I use the factory key fob by pressing the lock button to lock the doors then a second time pressing the lock button starts the car. now the car will not start with the factory key fob, it does respond like it wants to start and you can hear the motor click over but it will not start. it usually goes through the start sequence 3 times then nothing. any suggestions? maybe something needs to be reset? thanks.
