I just took of my intake today and realized the guy that had it before me took the butterfly valves out. The manifold has been polish so i want to use this manifold but i have a spare head the has the valves in it. How hard would it be to take the valves out of one head and into the other? And would putting them in be that much better then just not having then? I am running an emance rom tuned ecu this will still support the butterfly vavles correct?

Up to 350HP, keeping the valves is a good idea. Is the rod still there? If so, then yes, you can swap the valves over, just make sure and loc-tite the threads with RED threadlocker. If the rod is gone, then he's probably altered the sub-manifold and you can't just swap the stuff over. You'll have to swap the entire sub-manifold over.

I've run the engine both ways, and I would keep them. Yes, the emance rom tune doesn't alter the butterfly valve function. Please see the FAQ for more specific info regarding wiring and how the valves work.

I understand and know how the valves work I just didn't know how hard it would be to swap things over. The rod is gone on it so I wouldn't be able to put a rod back through and put the valves on?

I doubt it. There are 3 holes in the sub-manifold that the rod passes through that have seals on them. To remove the rod and seal the holes, he's probably either had the holes welded up, or removed the seals, and tapped threads and plugged the holes. Either way, it's not gonna work. Maybe he's done something crazy I've never seen/thought of before? Post some pics of where the rod passes in between the 2 halves of the sub-manifold, and where it comes out of the back and connects to the actuator. I can tell you that way if it's been modified to seal up the holes in a way that can be undone.

i will post up pics on monday after i go to school, since i am doing the rebuild in school. It looks like he told liquid gasket and just filled the back hole where the rod comes out.

This is all that he did to the hole. How much diffence is there if i dont run the valves vs. if i do?

big difference with the valves in... the car has low end torque and doesn't drive like a honda

people with little to no mods who run without them don't know what they're missing and have a poor grasp of fluid dynamics concepts

like float said... get another manifold with them... it's worth it!

Here is a link to show the testing the D_Stirls undertook.

It just happens that i have a manifold with them in it. I was just worried about not being able to hook them up right but I think i can firgure it out, there is some good thread on it.

It's super simple. There is a thread that is in the FAQ about using the cruise control vac pump from a Nissan to control the actuator as opposed to the stock setup. It works awesome! (I was doing this before I had to switch to the 4 port head).

actually, I think it was a volvo electric vacuum pump... BioSehnsucht mcguyvered that setup after some hunting at the junk yard... he didn't like the stock setup (but the stock system seemed fine for me)

Are you looking for a 8 valve head? When I bought my engine the guy gave me enough parts to build another engine and I am willing to part out the head if you would want it.

It might have been a Volvo pump. I was using a Nissan pump and it worked exactly the same way. Whatever's clever. It's all the same principal.

Nickhebert: No, I've got a 4 port head on there now.

I'll sell you my old one if you want it. I have no need for it anymore. PM me and we'll chat about it.

you'll still need to buy the necessary check valves and delay valves... delay valves look just like check valves but they act as restrictors so that the vacuum actuator can move slowly
