Hey guys. I've seen quite a few members getting custom exhausts made for their V's and it's definitely something I want to do. I'm wanting a 2.25 inch pipe all the way through. I don't really know much in this department, so i'm coming to you all for some help! I don't want to sound ricey at all. I really don't. I also want to keep it clean, i.e nothing illegal. So what should I ask for? Do I need a high-flow cat? What about a resonator? I'm kinda scared i'll get something I won't like.

Yeah that sounds good. Generally quiet but a deep tone when you open it up. Do you have a highflow cat on it? Or the stock one? Your pipe runs from the cat right? or the manifold? I may order a muffler that I know will fit, then bring it to the shop, have them run me a pipe.

i have the stock cat still, but everything behind it was replaced.

if you are thinking of ordering the same muffler i did you should get the offset in offset out one and not the center center (it works but it was a little more difficult for him to fit).

My setup is 2.25" from the headers/extractors back with a stainless 2.25" high flow 200cell core cat converter (which cost more than the exhaust piping LOL!) it has a resonator as well and a rear sports muffler which looks almost identical to the standard one just a little fatter. I went for the stealth look, it's hidden behind the bumper (see pic - you wouldnt even notice its been changed from stock). It's loud but doesn't sound ricey.

Anyway.... high flow cat's probably not completely necessary but I'd recommend a good resonator and don't get a large cannon muffler on the end of the exhaust: if you do, it WILL sound terrible and ricey.

I'm telling you guys QTP pipe is the way to go. It allows you to keep your stock muffler and with a flip of a switch changes the air flow from going though your muffler to right before it, alowing for increase in performance and for all those out there...more noise too.

I would keep the resenator...resenators are godly and help with the tone of your car, they also don't increase or decrease the flow of air.

For the CAT I would get a hi-flow cat for the best possible performance, it might change the tone of your vechile a notch but I really don't think anyone else would notice but you.

And for the final of them all...2-1/4" piping from the CAT back.

In Cali this is all still illigal but there is no way for the cops to find out unless they put the car on a lift and look under.
