well i busted my turbo manifold on sunday when i went to the local drag strip, what started out as a leak, quickly made itself into a HUGE crack/break in the manifold where the wastegate pipe is... dam.. well took it off this morning to give to my roommate to fix (he's got a machine/fabrication shop)

next will be to try out one of these SSA if it keeps breaking..

anyone used this yet, and can show me a photo of it mounted on a RWD S13 w/ CA18DET??

ouch, I dont think any1 has purchased that particular mani from them. Thats a pretty big crack, hopefully he can fix it and if not atleast you have that other option.

i've always read to be weary of exhaust wrap, especially on turbo manifolds. I think it was it had to do with it retaining moisture and leading to cracks. Good luck w/ the ssa though.

ummm NO

thats not the T3 Top mount, thats the old style... not what i want at all..

if you look the new one:

is a top mount T3 w/ 35/38mm wastegate port..

yours is the old one that had the badly paired runners.. and is T25/T28 bottom mount/standard mount.

Car: guess...

yes you did

on the old SSAC manifold runners 1,2 and 3,4 merge early(way too early) before the collector, which are the wrong runners because those cylinders are NOT 180 degrees out of phase, now he did post a bad pic to show this but it looks to me like none of the runners merge before the collector, making it a far superior manifold

from a autobody and welding perspective, the only reason you'd want to TIG something was because it is aluminum. TIG welds are meant to be pretty and easy to work on aluminum with because it's stick fed, unlike MIG, which is wire fed.

MIG is the industry standard for welding steel. i wouldn't buy a TIG welded manifold. it looks pretty, but the penetration may not be as deep as a MIG, or the TIG weld has caused so much heating that the steel has lost its properties.

just some food for thought.

ah.... well I guess class is out for today I hadn't considered 1/2 of the info mentioned in this thread as factors in the quality/effectiveness of a turbo manifold... all good info. 1more reason why NICO is awesome

How much is the top-mount T3 going for?I'm at the end of my wits with the person building my manifold. cuzan0, could you please provide measurements as to how far out and down the manifold reaches?

ca19det - you might consider welding a brace between the head flange or one of the runners to the wastegate pipe, this will nearly guarantee it will never happen again.

cuzan0 - very nice manifold. i wonder if they would fit with a ca18 in a datsun 1200 (sunny) ute ? did you get the dimensions of far out and low its from the engine ?
