Yeah,

i own a 91 240sx, KA24DE just did a 5speed swap. Now, earlier on, i was told i had to get tension rods, because they were dead basically. I completely forgot to buy them, and my guys forgot that i needed them too. Well, after my 5speed swap was done from my previous HICAS car, we had to get a new PS pump. We get it, it doesnt work...theyre clueless, because we were told it was supposed to work. I mean the fluid was just sitting in the reservoir. Is there ANY way tension rods may have some sort of effect on a PS pump? I know they have to do with steering and whatnot, so idk it was just an idea.

-thanks for any help

uhhhh.

A bad tension rod would have no affect on a working/non-working power steering pump.

The question here is was the pump new when you bought it?

If not then you just got scammed my man. Or check the connections again just in case.

may i suggest replacing the control arms and tie rods and bushings etc?

That way you wont have to later on.

This is with the assumption that they need to be replaced of course. Most likely they do on a 17 year old car.

i changed my tension rods, hah. i may suggest nismo ones for dd street use if you want comfort, or go with spl tension rods with pillow ball (no rubber bushing)

however, i would suggest buying a nismo powerbrace.(2 brackets with bar)

i was replacing my suspension, and even with the bracket off i could not get the old tension rod out.

Supplies you will need for a problem free tension rod replacement-

nismo powerbrace(200$)new tension rods(150$)tension rod bolt (from nissan dealer)(20$)

or you can risk it and just get tension rods. but im warning you i had a horrible time trying to get the tension rod bolt out from the bracket, and still did not do it. maybe if you burn the rubber
