Busted! :(

Well got a ticket last night for being an idiot. Some guy in a green charger pulled out while my gf and I were heading to florence and decided to ride my tail, so when he goes to pass me I downshift to keep him from passing. Well, it worked but shortly after blue lights adorned my rear view.

To make a long story short, I got a ticket for following too close, reckless driving, and drag racing. Roughly a $500 ticket. Thank GOD he didn't put the speed down, because we were going between 85-90 in a 45. The really sad thing is the cop is a friend of my step fathers. We put vinyl siding on his house a few months ago lol. But anyway, gotta go to court the 13th of jan to get my *** pounded, wish me luck. The only conselation I can have is knowing that the other guy got screwed worse then me. He got all I had, plus he got him for broken headlight, aggrivating another driver, and not wearing a seat belt

Damn bro, that's a pain. What year Charger? Was he able to pass? I'm sorry to hear about your bad luck, but like you said, it could have been worse. Keep us posted!

WHAT??? The mofo gave you a ticket even though he's your stepfather's friend AND after you gave your sweat and blood to vinyl his house? That is messed up! "Hey mom, guess who gave me a ticket tonight?" I'd get a lawyer too. With the provocation involved, the court would probably cut you a deal. What if you deny everything (plead innocent)? Would the guy actually come to court to testify against you?

You should seriously have your stepfather talk to his friend. If the officer doesn't show up to the hearing, they can't prove anything and the judge dismisses the case, taking your $500 ticket to the shredder. Hey, it's worth a shot!

If you don't have much money the court will assign you a lawyer. I had something similar happen to me years ago when i was a college senior. I got busted essentially racing a guy onto the freeway, one of those places where two lanes turn into one. The cop didn't write down the top speed we hit, which was probably 110, he wrote down 75 since the cop said "that was the last time I looked down at my speedo". I got the court to assign me a lawyer since I wasn't making any money, and hel had a mainline to make you a deal with the DA so it got plea bargained down to a simple speeding ticket and than the judget offered me traffic school and it never touched my driving record.

If you let this go down as a conviction your insurance will go through the roof if you don't just get cancelled outright by your insurnace carrier. Get a lawyer appointed if you cannot afford one and plea bargain!!!

I might even go so far as to say the Charger "tapped" you from behind, and you were accelerating towards an opening in traffic...

maybe he had to give you the ticket to get the other guy at the same time, goto court maybe he wont show up that way youll get out of the ticket also call an post pone the date so that the other guy will have a diff court date an you both wont be there on the same day and getting it postponed might help your chances of the officer not showing up.

go to the cops house rip the siding off. that sucks but if you were in florida your car would be gone and you would be locked up so it could have been worse. good luck and at least your car is still there

I dunno about other states, but I always heard that you can go to court and if the cop isn't there you get away free. Well here in alabama that's not true, they just postpone the date. I've witnessed it several times

Just on a sidenote, if you're on a two lane road and someone pulls out to pass you it's illegal to speed up Here it is anyways. Not trying to lecture you or anything just flapping
