Burnt shifter?

I removed my center console and shift boot. Both were totaled(cat pee and crap all over them).

Anyway.. I look at the bottom part of the shifter where the metal is and the silver looks a little burnt... what the hell does that meen? :confused: Is there lube that has to go on it?

eh, mebbe it is just gear oil that has just baked on the metal... like when u take off your valve cover & see what happens if u don't change your oil every 3000 miles/ 3 months...

lol. I bought the car in a not so good condition. I never really noticed the smell till after a while...
