I have pulled the passenger side coils out and they were roasted pretty bad. The one on cylinder 1? (the passenger side closest to the front number) was in two pieces, the part that connects onto the top of the spark plug broke off and I am unsure on how to remove the remaining piece so that I can replace the coils.
This brings me to the next question, how easy is it for coils to go bad? I am going to go to the local junkyard that has a TT pick n pull and I was going to grab some coils from it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

From the pics, the coils themselves look fine. The rubber extensions are known to break apart from the heat. That whole rubber piece pulls apart from the metal coil itself.

Coils can go bad at this age. I had a couple of bad ones. Lots of people selling used ones for not very expensive.

So the top one I think is fine, however the bottom two look pretty roached out, and like I said the one on the bottom left a lot of its rubber part a spring too within the head. I have a junk yard that I am going to go to today that has a couple Z's and one that He said was a turbo so I am hoping that the turbo one still has some coils I can snag for about 5 bucks each. You think the ones that I have still work even though they are burnt to hell?

Still trying to find a way to clear out all the burnt rubber and seized in pieces so that I can change my spark plugs? anyone had any experience trying to remove the rubberboots when they rip off and get stuck in there?
