Ok...getting new tires on the car tomorrow, so I thought why not do a burnout to kill the stock rubber. I'm embarrasses to say that I couldn't get the car to light up the rear

I didn't want to do donuts just to burn up the tires...but that seems like the only option. The clutch pedal just sticks to the floor, and nasty clutch smell ensues.

Anyone have any luck with a standing burnout with a manual?

I don't have a MT but if you have wide, soft tires you will really have to get the rpm's up before you pop the clutch.

I have done a burn out in my AT and it was about 20 ft long. Real cool

What if you pumped up the tires a bit more?? 45 pounds or so??Also, find a spot where you're heading up hill.

You'll have to do a lil heel-toe to get it started. Simply hold down the clutch with your left foot while the heel of the left foot presses down on the brake. Then with your right foot, bring your RPM's up to where your engine produces its max torque and quickly rock your foot off the clutch and only onto the brake while you gradually give it more juice. Then when you're done, get out and smell the burnt rubber.

Not to sound like a n00b, but I thought you used your right foot for the brake/gas...lol

I'll have to try that...I have big clumsy feet though

Back in high school there was a group of guys that perfected this with a broom stick. They would cut the broom end off and use the stick to press down on the clutch...easier for the guys with "big clumsy feet". That way you can hold down the brake with your left foot and keep it floored with your right!!!

another suggestion to get the tires to break loose is to wet the floor under the wheels

the friction should evaporate the water pretty quickly to allow you to lay down the rubber

ps post pics after you do it

JUST POP THE CLUTCH!!!! n HOLD THE BRAKE!!! I stay around 3grand n its smokes up give fine..

PS TRY NOT TO DO IT TOo MUCH WITH YOUR NEW TIRES IT WILL CATCH UP TO YOU. I BOUGHT A NEW PAIR AND I NEED A NEW PAIR AFTER 2 1/2 MONTHS LOL

You can do it with your other foot, I'm just weird that way and always seem to do things backwards. Whatever way you feel comfortable doing it will work, and you can even use your left hand for the clutch if you're part monkey.

what are you dumping the clutch at? hold just enough brake to keep the front tires from moving too much, and when your brake them loose feather the throttle to keep it at about 3-3.5 should work then....

You guys crack me up!! Don't get me wrong... burnouts are cool, but after having paid $240 EACH for my last set of tires, and as fast as they already wear, I don't even like it when they chirp when I accelerate hard around a corner with the VDC turned on! LOL
