burning smell

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I have a 2008 EX35 Journey with 68000 miles on it, my problem is every time we go over a bump we smell this awful burning smell. We have taken it to the service dept at the dealer they can't figure out what the problem is... no leaks...no reason can be found as to why it does this. It's been doing this for at least the past year an it's driving me nuts! Any one have any insight?

?? makes no sense.

Does it make a sound? Are all the fluid levels still full (oil, trans, power steering, brakes, differential?) Does it smell like oil or does it smell like plastic or something entirely different?

That's a weird one, for sure.

How much time elapses between the bump and the smell?

hmmm..... are your tires rubbing on something? Have you jacked it up and looked underneath and at the insides of all your tires? I wonder if you ran over something and it is stuck somewhere and rubs something when you go over the bumps? I think I would be more worried if it was an oil smell, but still annoyed at the rubber smell!

has your mechanic had a good look at the exhaust hangers, for possible touching the exhaust pipe when you are going over a bump. :inout:
