Burning rubber

Here is another question about the CVT. They other day I was cruising down the interstate and had to make an aggressive move where I gunned the accelerator just briefly, changed lanes, then had to hit the brakes, then gunned the accelerator again to change lanes again. (no this is not my normal driving pattern either) At this point the cabin was filled briefly with a strong burnt rubber smell. There was nothing else around to have caused this and was wondering if it really did come from my Versa.

Anyone else ever experience this?
