i have a 89 240 with the ka24e and it burns a whole bunch of oil like from full to empty in a 2 hr trip and i cant figure it out i did a compression test and its 170 across the board it runs fine i just have to keep putting oil into it but the coolant in the overflow tank turned brown recently and yes ive searched and found nothing any ideas what it could be?

does the car smoke blue oil?

sounds like a cracked block honestly due to the oil/coolant mix.,..

i would say headgasket. cracked block is unlikely, but if the compression test turned out solid high #"s all the way across, then it might not be a headgasket. next thing to try is a leakdown test.

lol yeah your in trouble then....that would explain such strong comp too.as for oil in coolant its a headgasket or bad block.... as stated most likely its the h/g.
